The Basel Zoo might be OK for families with small children. Considering the price of admission though, for teenagers and up it's a very small and uninspiring park. A disappointing experience.

A great few hours can be had at Basel zoo. Good location, we took tram 2 which stopped 15 metres from zoo entrance. A greater variety of animals than I anticipated, There was a 2 week old Rhino running about which was great to see. Viewing the animals was great as the zoo have made viewing areas large enough that... More

We came in the winter so there were barely any animals, they looked uncared for and there were no zookeepers in sight, all in all disappointing and waste of money...

I lived 8 years in Basel. I got myself an anual pass and came regularly. It really does not matter which season it is, or how much time you have. Its always worth to explore this beautiful zoo. Kids will love how close up you can get to certain animals. If you plan a longer stay, there is a restaurant... More

among the world zoos, the basel one should be considered as best...why? because you don't see one tigers but 7, not one elephants but five, not a few chimpanzees but two dozens. a very attractive place to visit.

A small but intimate zoo in the centre of Basel. It wasa very cold day when we visited and some animals stayed indoors. Highlights were the Penguins at feeding time, the indoor Aviary with exotic birds flying freely all around, the aquarium where you can also view crocodiles under the water. Outdoors there is a well planned route to visit... More

This is apparently a cool zoo. The animals have outdoors and indoors spaces. You can see them treating and feeding the animals according to the daily schedule. It is somehow educative despite the fact the animals are in a jail or relatively small land space for their natural needs...mixed feelings though...

Such a wonderful time . If you are lucky to have a sunny day then it s even better. Lots of animals. I loved the giraffes and hippos. 1,5h would be enough to visit all the animals.
