This place looks rather tired and outdated. The animals lack stimulation and pace back and forth due to boredom.

Zoo Basel is nice to visit if you have time. It is a bit small so don't expect to see many of the animals you can find in other Zoo! The best part (for us) was the "oceanarium".

We went around the Zoo as my son loves Zoo's and we usually find a zoo where ever we go on holiday. Any way the Basel zoo was easy to get to as it is right in the centre of Basel a short walk from the main Train station. The day we went was a really cold one so a... More

We visited when many of the animals were indoors keeping warm - therefore we saw them UP CLOSE. Great family outing with young children.

The zoo is located very well, near the city center and the main public transport facilities. It's pretty big and very well built. The enclosures are quite spacious and nicely decorated with a recreation of the natural habitat of the animals. There's a lot of informations but only in German, that's the only negativ point for me. In the cold... More

Both me and my partner go to every zoo in the places we visit together, considering it is November we were expecting the animals and zoo to be very quiet and boring. But to our surprise we loved this zoo, there are loads of animals and such a clean area for the public. Would definitely recommend this for both children... More

Seems like lots of work and effort to improve animal enclosures :o) will be very nice once finished. Calm and quiet suburb of Basel.
