Some interesting artefacts in this museum, but too many of the same thing in some instances. Information sheets on each floor which are very useful, if a little wordy.

A well-organised beautiful building (inside and out); each floor has a different theme which shows exhibits from all over the world. Fantastic displays which are well thought through. You can easily focus on the artefacts that attracts you most. I adored the unique Kingfisher feather jewellery, the arty painted eggs and the up-cycling objects. There is such a large variety... This museum is in the corner just of Munsterplatz, and has a great mixture of displays from masks to modern bottle walls inside a fabulous building, the outside of the building is worth the visit alone

This is one of these museums with very diverse expositions: cultural objects from various peoples, modern and antique, common and strange looking. There is for example a huge Native American wigwam which can be observed from different floors. The place is a bit weird and I'm not sure if I liked it or not. I found the Carnival of Basel... More

Nice way to pass an hour. The staff were very nice & helpful on each floor - the gentlemen had a lot of knowledge. The English translation books were a brilliant accompaniment. They do enforce that you leave your handbag in the locker though.

Was expecting a lot more, in this museum town. Some interesting exhibits but overall mediocre. Clean, clear, clutter free arrangements. They had an exhibition on 'recycling', but no recycling facilities at the venue; a bit ironic isn't it. If you are in a rush, I would sure give this a miss. Free entry though with Swiss travel pass.

I regularly visit this museum. Amazing objects from different cultures of the world are presented in a most interesting way in the beautiful rooms. There are various exhibitions on different levels at the same time. The museum has a very quiet yard and a nice museum shop.

I wanted to go to the Kunstmuseum but it was shut until April but has lent several paintings to 2 Museums, the more Modern stuff was at the Artmuseum in St. Alban which I went to see first. We then walked up to this one as it was showing some old Masters which is what I enjoy. And it was... More

I loved the focused exhibits at the Museum of Culture (one on the History of Opium and on Neapolitan street vendors when I was there). But I dislike the contemporary vogue for throwing a lot of disparate items together which have often but a tenuous connection to the exhibit's theme, and expecting the visitor to conjure an experience from this....
