CERN, in Geneva, is the world’s largest particle physics research centre. CERN has recently brought into service the world’s most powerful accelerator, the LHC (Large Hadron Collider), which will provide new insights into the Universe and how it evolved.

The entire Universe is made up of particles. But where do they come from? What laws govern their behaviour? The purpose of the "Universe of particles" exhibition is for visitors to confront the great questions of contemporary physics : a journey to the Big Bang.

Having had a tour of CERN on our 'must do' list for many years, there was little chance we wouldn't enjoy it. And that was the case. The only disappointment was the English-speaking guide we had requested. While he was very knowledgeable, he was not a native speaker of English and was at times very difficult to understand. Fortunately, everything... More

One of the best experiences in my stay in Switzerland. I do love the open spaces and the post card views of that country, but CERN was special. I visited the 2 exhibits and took the guided tour. Highly recommend to those who are into physics or want to get more information and be at the site where science comes... More

We made an unplanned visit on the day of our return from Geneva. Travelling is easier as its a tram visit (18) from geneva station and took less than 30 mins. We didn't book any guided tours. but still was able to visit the two exhibition. Thrilled to be there and bought some gifts

One of the world leading center in the field of physical research, this is an essential step if you're in Geneva. The guides take you on an instructive tour and explains very clearly complicated concepts. And it's free, so no excuses !

I worked for the circuit of refroidissement of the 2nd cyclotron and it was quite an experience. CERN is not an attration but a place that must have been seen once in a lifetime. The guides are very good and well prepared so that ewerybody can unterstand what is shown. Beside there is a restaurant where you can eat very... More

You have got to see this place! Book on a guided tour in advance - it's free and takes 3 hours including a 60 minute introductory lecture including questions. Lecture is pitched at high school level of physics and is enthusiastically presented. One of the best facilities we have ever visited. There is a tram stop just outside, 20 minute... More

Please don't visit CERN thinking it's a science 'theme park.' Or that the tour guides are going to be like something at Disney. If you do- disappointment is inevitable. I have now visited twice with groups of college students and while a knowledge of particle physics is very helpful, the guides (who are volunteer members of the CERN scientific community)... More

This is a place one must visit in Geneva and is almost a must. There is an open day every year but I do believe that one can go on a guided tour at anytime. It is a real experience and the people who are guides are people involved in the research at Cern so most are very interesting. Worth... More

The guided tour (booked 15 days in advance) was a disappointment - just a peek looking into a control room & two videos. BUT the two exhibitions are FANTATSIC - well-presented and informative. There is also a marvellouw statue commemortaing science discoveries. Note: no cafe facilities - just a vending machine. (Apparently there is a cafe a short walkj away... More
