Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worth a visit to see this amazing cathedral. Easy to get to on your self guided tour of Lucerne. Beautiful alter area and art work. Very impressive.

So I went in alone. There was nobody when I went in except for an old lady. I kept wondering why was she staring at me. Initially I thought perhaps she’s not welcoming of tourists. Later I realized that she was masturbating in the church. As she stood up and tries to zip up her pants, I confirmed my suspicions and walked out of the church. Before I realized what she was doing, initially I smiled at her to show some sort of tourist friendliness to her. Now that I think about it, yuck. It’s a very typical Catholic Church by the way.

Located in a central part of the city, Franziskanerkirche is beautiful from the outside, in a nice / quiet area...

The Franciscan Church is more medieval than the Jesuit Church, but also less austere. There is great carved woodwork, the ceiling is covered with paintings of angels, and side Chapels are lovely as well. Note that the street-level entrance, with no steps, denotes a Church accessible to ordinary people, not aristocrats.

This place will definitely fool you. The exterior is simple and unassuming. But the inside is oh so amazing! It represents a nice contrast to the larger and more ornate Jesuit church nearby.

Our tour included a stop at this lovely church full of relics and old bones. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the Saints.

Go inside this 13th 15th century Franciscan Church and spend a while just enjoying the beautiful interior. The church's 13th-century portions are built in Gothic style; Renaissance and Baroque styles The Franciscan Church's wooden carved pulpit dates from the early 15th century. The flags along the church's upper walls are from the 17th century, when the church doubled as a city hall; they represent locations where Swiss mercenaries fought and won.

Franziskanerkirche is located a few blocks behind the Jesuitenkirche on the left bank of the Reuss River and was completed in 1280.The church is rather large but the exterior appearance is very unassuming until you step inside the church. From the very detailed gorgeous wood carved pulpit to the beautiful alter to the exquisite detail of the whole interior, one can spend hours inside this church admiring the history and detail of this stunning church. It is maybe a slightly hidden gem as it is not in the main tourist area however do visit it if in Lucerne and do tell others of it as no one will be disappointed if they do visit it.

Franciscan Church, built from 1270 to 1280 in simple gothic style is Lucerne's first parish church not depending on the Hof Church monastery. Beautiful inside with stained glasses designs. The Gothic interior features the most elaborately ornamented pulpit in Switzerland, dating from between the Renaissance and baroque periods. The flag frescoes are very medieval and represent Lucerne’s conquests during the Middle Ages.

Unassuming from the outside, this Catholic church has a stunning interior that an amateur photographer will enjoy. We focused on the details such as the lectern, ceiling, baptismal font, but to each his own. The usual decisions must be made regarding white balance and exposure due to the lighting. My DSLR with zoom lens and no tripod or flash seemed adequate. This is good since our experience is that most churches prefer no flashes in order to protect artwork. And, this is an active church, so respect services and put away the camera during those times.
