An old town on the periphery of a lake
Once you get down at the Lucerne station you will notice that you have arrived at a beautiful old town of Switzerland. There is a lake with beautiful buildings around it providing a spledid view. Just outside the station there is a boat/ship stop to take it towards Mount Rigi. During night the place is beautifully lighted.

    Self guided walking tour
We decided to take a tour of the old city area of Lucerne. Our tour was not with a guide seeing as the there are plenty of maps on line to do the tour on your own. Chapel Bridge and the lion monument were easy. The walled city tour not so easy lots of hills and steps to climb. But well worth the trouble once you get onto the top of the walk way. The views are amazing and the clock tower as well. if you have trouble with heights then just stay on the wall as the towers have steep stairs.Lots of cafes on the way back to town so coffee and wine were a pleasant reward 👍

The amazing Luzern on the Lake
We are lucky and have an old friend in Luzern who gave us a special tour in this amazing Swiss town First it is situated at the water the Vierwaldstätter See , second the River Reuss is rushing out the sluice Third you have the KKL an amazing cultural center right on the lake. Fourth you can experience at the Rosengarten museum plenty of Picassos and Klees Fifth you can make a pleasant walk through town without the tourist crowd And and and. My only advice is do not miss this place when in Switzerland.

    Very beautiful
Lucerne is a real gem of a place. It is so beautiful specially the old town which has lots of historical and beautiful buildings all in preserved state. It was wonderful walking here all the way to the Lion Monument and Glacier Garden.

    Gorgeous
As part of a four-day tour of Switzerland, we stopped in on Lucerne on our way to Bern from Zurich. OMG. Beautiful. Situated next to a lake and river, with some lovely old bridges, and views across to mountains, we thought the place was lovely. And then we ventured into the old town and were blown away by the picture-book half-timbered and painted buildings that seemed to be everywhere. Absolutely stunning. Photo ops. wherever you looked. Also lots of shops and restaurants for the tourists. A really lovely place to visit and highly recommended. One of our Swiss highlights.

Beautiful tour of old town Luzern with the Swiss Mountains in the backdrop.
Had a 1.5 hour walking tour of the Old Town. It was well worth it. Our guide was excellent. Learned a lot. Make sure you walk the popular Covered Wooden Bridge.

    Amazing Old Town
Beautiful with ambiance is how i will describe Old city. The people are even friendlier here than in Zurich. Many shops, restaurants and cafes already everywhere and life seems to be calmer there. Old town is truly an experience and one I will like a do over. It is a definite must-visit when in Switzerland.

First stop on a Switzerland tour
Fun to walk around, plenty of quality restaurants with outdoor seating. Bridges are cool, but you can enjoy them in 5-10 minutes. Very tourist-centric, so if you want to experience more of true Switzerland, I would look at opportunities away from the town.

    Fantastic Tour of Lucerne!
Fantastic Tuk Tuk Tour! Pascal gave my husband and me a wonderful tour of Lucern. This was the first time we booked a Tuk Tuk tour and loved it. We saw many more sites than if we had done a walk tour, which was great. Pascal was a terrific tour guide, showing us the must-see sights and giving us a glimpse into the past. We highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommended for a stay of one to two nights
I would really recommend Old Town Lucerne for a stay of one to two nights. A lovely, easily walkable town with beautiful views of the old buildings, river, lake and mountains. Many shops and scenic areas make this a happy place to spend the day. Be sure to visit the covered bridges, churches, and lakefront areas especially on a clear day. If you're an art lover, don't miss the Sammlung Rosengart Museum for a wonderful exhibition on Pablo Picasso, among other great artists. Lots of works by Klee, Kandinsky, and others.

There is plenty to see and to appreciate in Luzern. History, culture, shopping - if that is your thing. Definitely worth visiting.
