From our base in Zurich, this was just a train ride away. There are two stops you can get off at, to see the southern side and the northern side. Both sides are worth a visit. At the southern side walk off the train and you see a queue of people waiting to buy tickets for the observation deck. These cost 5 CHF and can be paid for by card. Stunning scenery and the falls are magnificent. Boat trips (15 minutes and 30 minutes long) are available if you want to get up close to the falls. At the northern side there is no ticket cost, you just get off the train and walk towards the falls. Plenty of benches all round to sit and enjoy the spectacular scenery on offer.

A very beautiful waterfall that can be appreciated both from a distance and up close. You can make reservations in advance for a boat excursion, and then decide how long of a cruise you would want to take. They will take you quite near to the waterfall, and some of them will even go downstream a little bit, giving you the opportunity to see the cascade in its entirety. In addition, there is a restaurant where you can eat; however, you will need to make reservations in advance.

Very beautiful place and the waterfalls are astonishing !! Even though it was very cold we really liked the place !! I am sure that during the spring and summer the view and the scenery must be great !! There is a tour also with little boat

Fantastic place to spend time. It's about 45 minutes away from Zurich HB station. Beautiful view and it's free. It's right next to the station and boats of beautiful views. The water level is quite nice but you can't step into the water . Enjoy the view

Great Place to spend Half day, enjoying nature and water fall. We enjoyed the walk from castle to Boat Pier and also yellow boat Ride which took us to center rock of fall. Plenty of options for snacks and meals. Direct connection with Zurich HB through train S9 (North side) and S12 (south side)

It was amazing to watch the massive column of water cascading through the two gaps with a drop of the river Rhine. The fall was so impressive that we were gazing at it for several hours observing the rhythmic flow and skilful manoeuvring of sight-seeing boats against the sheer current that the fall was generating. It was a thrill to take the boat trip to the centre island and look at the upper river and the massive water body that squeezes its way down the drop, crashing into the base below creating thunderous ripples. It was a great thrill to sail in front so close to the fall and enjoy the wetting by the atomised water spray that evolved from the force of the drop. It was absolute fun and an experience that would never be repeated often.

We stopped here on our recent Go Ahead tour. Very beautiful. I was surprised by the maid of the mist style boats going up close. There was also a little train you could ride from the parking lot. Would recommend.

We visited Rhine Falls today and it was amazing. The attraction is dog friendly and takes you to platforms very close to the oncoming flow of water through a series of stairwells but is very safe. We went through the Schloss Laufen castle route which takes you closest to the falls. The tickets including cost CHF5 per person and can be bought at the entrance. You can park at the same premises and it costs CHF5 per hour to park. Brilliant and a unique experience having also been to Niagra falls and is a must visit.

You could spend a whole day here apart from just seeing the falls. There are playgrounds, castles and train rides. The falls itself were great, and the ferry took us quite near the falls, enough to get sprayed on by waterfall mist. We didn’t go to the viewing platform since we had young kids with us. This was the most crowded place we saw on our vacation, but it was a nice visit.

Beautiful falls. Nice facilities. I suggest not wasting money to pay for the viewing platform access near Schloss Laufen. Too full, no crowd control, nothing but camera phones and selfies. Just walk across the train bridge to the other side for a better view with less crowds. For free. Spend that 5 CHF on a beer or a boat ride.
