An amazing place and a great view of the beautiful city of Schaffhausen. For the less able to walk up many steps to reach the site I advice taking the # 4 Bus across the street from the central train station for 3 stops. this will take you to a slope down short walk to the site and a great... It is a great hike up a lot of steps but the view alone is worth it. The little park and area around the Munot is a nice walk as well.

Absolutely worth the walk if you are in Schaffhausen. Placed over the city it offers beautiful view from above. And it is very impressive itself.

Being an American living in Schaffhausen, I still have trouble wrapping my mind around a fortress built over 500 years ago. The interior of the fortress is a cool scene with the natural lighting from above. The views from the top are the best in town. We bring every guest we have to the Munot.

Sitting at the top of a hill, it was quite a hike up stairs to get there. Though after being on the top, we found that you can drive a car there. The stairs were between rows of grapes which was really neat. They had some reindeer in the "moat" area so was nice watching them. Top top had an... More

Above the medieval Old Town of Schaffhausen stands the imposing Munot fortress. The houses of the Old Town are decorated with oriel windows and painted facades. The town is surrounded by vineyards. The fortress is most impressive. We took pictures from afar. Designed by famous artist Albrecht Dürer, the stronghold dates back to the 1500s. WE could see far and... More

we discovered this place while visiting Schaffhausen for the waterfall, it is a great find. the vineyard is on this little mountain, and you climb stairs in the middle of this vineyard to get to this cool old castle/tower, where you have a 360 view of the city. so cool

Enjoyed an lovely Saturday afternoon in Schaffhausen. The 'old' town is charming and from the Munot there is a great view over all of the city.

Nice little tower that is free to tour. There is a winding stair inside and when you get to the top, there is a large area for entertaining. The top has some great views of Schaffhausen. This is a cool experience to waste an hour or so but is not enough for an afternoon. Still is fun.

Am a great fan of castles so I'll often go way out of the way to see one. This is one that I would put in the category of "visit if you are there, but don't make a special trip JUST for the castle!" The castle is in phenomenal shape and it is easy and free to visit, and it... More
