The place is a must see - what a brilliant example of medieval architecture! Excellent fortress with walls and towers and gates, a piece of history waiting for you to get acquainted with it. Simply amazing.

If you have time to visit the castle of the Visvontis, (15 century), it's located via Castello in the center of Locarno, it's a museum now with expositions etc.

I didn't visit the museum inside because I didn't have any CHF cash on me (and they don't take credit cards). The outside was quite enjoyable; the ruined castle provides a good place for resting a bit. I saw two local young men sitting on...More

Nice little town castle, not really obvious where it starts and ends, but nice to see on your way through Locarno.

We spent about half an hour having a look round the grounds of the castle. It was fairly interesting but wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but worth a look if you;re passing.
