Lake Lugano is a fantastic place to visit, yet there are not many places with a beach of any kind. Lido San Domenico is a small, but quiet place to relax. Kids play in the water. Parents take a nap. A nice place to visit, despite the fact you have to pay entrance (18 EURO for 2 adults + a... More

Sp cial place for a walk. One can have a good view of Lake Lugano, very agreable, nice, quiet, well kept. Worth a walk in the afternoon.

This is not a good spot for the one looking for a swimming pool but it's an amazing one for the people that love swimming on the lake. Stunning view and cute little lido.

Like the next village (Gandria, 800m on foot) it's a good place to do a pause. Do the walk in summer! The lido is on a beautiful promenade and requires only half hour slow walk...

This looked fab, but alas it was a NO SWIMMING time of year. I feel that this site needs to update the timings as we made a big effort to get here with huge disappointment.

Pleased to locate this so near to where we were staying in Castagnola. Charming little lawned area for sunbathing (with showers and lockers), and a little cafe area too (with shade if you need it). The swimming area is not large, but is adequate (and there is a lifeguard). The lake waters were surprisingly warm at 22degrees and it was... More

Crowded when we were there as last day of term celebrations evident! Esaily accessed by local bus and a good Coop supermarket across the road for refreshments and picnic food.

Came across this lovely Lido on a very hot afternoon doing the 'Olive Grove Walk' from Gandria towards Castagnola, Lugano along the shoreline. My wife and son went for a cooling dip, whilst I sat under a shady tree and had a beer. I'm not a good swimmer and the lake is very deep; well that's my excuse. As I... More

What as2x wrote in Italian is a perfect description of the Lido di San Domenico. I used to go there every week-end during summer-time when the children were still small and I was living closer to that area. The only big problem is parking: impossible. You would have to take the public bus to Castagnola and walk for about 15... More
