From the peak of the Rothorn at 3103 metres there is the most spectacular view across the whole Zermatt region as far as the Matterhorn. On this walk around the Rothorn restaurant you can draw in the pure mountain air and admire the original "Peak Collection". It was just a part of a bigger tour, but worth some effort to hike there. Nice views to numerous summits, not so many tourists and can perfectly serve as a cozy place for a picnic. But if you are looking for just one summit to visit in Zermatt, go to Gornergrat - it's much more touristic and crowded, but... More

The Rothorn has a good 360 degree panorama, but we only stayed there for 15 minutes as there wasn't a lot to do at the top. If you have purchased a Travel Pass, it is worth going for the views, but at CHF67 for the return trip to Zermatt it is not really worth it.

The place still looks under construction with lots of wooden logs lying there. Matterhorn's view is good from here. Point of Paragliding as well.

Unusual Signboards for each peak visible, with a piece of rock from each one, a description f the climb, and who climbed it first and when - mostly English people...

This is a funicular railway then cable car trip with some of the best panoramic views of the Matterhorn area. I hadn't heard about this route until being advised about it at the tourist office in Zermatt (Gornergrat & Glacier Paradise seem more publicised). Well worth the trip - absolutely stunning views!

I couldn't find a review area for the Kristallweg trail so thought I'd post from the starting point. This trail is great for people like me who have a fear of downhill/uphill steepness and loose rocks, plus ledges looking down. The trail is mostly like a road so was relatively easy going. The views of the Findel Glacier were fantastic,... More

First off if you have a multi day Swiss train pass take it with you as you will save about 50% on all the cable car rides. At the entrance of the funicular be sure to rent the kick bikes. You fill out and pay for them at the ticket counter. Take the funicular up to the first stop. Then... More

Having done Schwarzee, and Gornergletscher we did Rathorn as an afterthought and are very glad we did. It provided some of the best vistas available. Absolutely gorgeous and the funicular ride up is great fun

We were to go to glacier palace but reached here by mistake...But decided to take the ride to the top. Without Swiss pass the proce is double but then we loved the whole experience. We enjoyed the view of matterhorn and all the mountains around from every level. Excellent place for hikers. The funicular to Sunnega was my first ever... More

We did trail 13 to go way on top and have great views of the area as well as the Matterhorn. Bit tricky towards the end but very worthwhile. Went down using different trails.
