About
Casino Barrière de Montreux is home to the legendary “Mountain Studios” which has seen a parade of artists such as David Bowie, The Rolling Stones or Queen walk through its doors. In 2013, the venue was renovated to include an exhibition space entirely dedicated to Queen, which recorded six albums there between 1978 and 1995.

- Eileen T21 contributionsA Queenie’s Dream come trueAs a Queenie for almost 50 years I was excited to visit the Queen Studio Experience. I knew ahead of time what I would likely see, due to seeing the pictures others have posted. What I enjoyed most was seeing the hand written lyrics, and the studio equipment. Playing with the mix of “Made in Heaven” a little was also fun. This is a Queen fan’s bucket list item, but others will find the band’s history interesting. The exhibit is very much heavy on Freddie Mercury, as it is supported and arranged by the Mercury Phoenix Trust. If you’re in Montreaux it’s worth seeing. Free entry with suggested donation to the trust.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 September 2023
- wendyanddavid536Solihull, United Kingdom2,123 contributionsVery Good if you are into Queen!More my wife's thing than mine, but I could appreciate that if you are a Queen/Freddie Mercury fan you would be in heaven. Loads of photos, artefacts and memorabilia and plenty of opportunities to hear recorded tracks of Queen music. Free to enter, donation suggested, set in the Montreux Casino, where even at 2.00pm people were gambling their life savings away.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 September 2023
- Mole26Hockley, United Kingdom390 contributionsBrilliantI have to say I am not the greatest fan but on a visit to see a mate he took me here. Great photos and timelines of the band as well as some of Freddie’s costumes. Also a short film of the guys reminiscing about him. One room is laid out as a mixing studio. You can move the controls to modulate the sound. Also a wall where fans can leave notes and tributes. I really enjoyed it.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 10 June 2024
- Jim WSindelfingen, Germany8,267 contributionsLet Queen Entertain You!This made our entire trip to Lake Geneva and Montreux worthwhile and it is absolutely free. Of course, you can donate to the Mercury Phoenix Trust while visiting. My wife and I loved this studio experience. It is a free audio and visual experience that is sheer brilliance from the moment you walk in to the viewing of the Queen tribute wall on the outside. You get to learn the history of Queen in Montreux beginning with the Jazz album. Freddie's last vocals were recorded here in Mountain Studios as well as the rest of Queen's albums from Jazz onward ending with the posthumous release of Made In Heaven. Even the hit Under Pressure was recorded here with David Bowie. The highlight is getting to be the mixer and deciding whether or not Mother Love or Made In Heaven should have more guitar or more drums. You even get advice and encouragement from Brian and Roger. You get to see some of Freddie's most outlandish outfits and Brian's white winged shirt. I had so much fun here, loving every minute. While it is a relatively small museum, a true Queen fan will be completely satiated. There is even an Queen cinema giving even more to the history of Queen in Switzerland. What a loving tribute by the rest of Queen to honor Freddie. May he live forever in our memories and may he rest in peace.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 June 2024

We were on a tour in Switzerland and Montreux was one of our stops for 2 nights. Another person on our tour recommended the Queen Studio Experience after gone the night before. I am so glad we took the time to find it. And yes, it is in an odd place...inside a Casino. Go straight in the front door and turn left and follow the trail of memorabilia to the exhibit. Though it is free a donation is suggested.
Great collection of costumes, hand written lyrics, and other items. Sit for a while and watch the film that plays on a loop. And definitely don't miss playing with the mixing board. That was incredibly fun.
If you find yourself anywhere within driving distance of Montreux it is worth a stop to see the Freddy Mercury statue down on the lakefront and then into the casino for the exhibit. Great place to visit.

A collection of memorabilia from Queen and Freddie Mercury, this is a must for any Queen fan. Housed in the Casino, we did have a little problem finding it, but trust me, it exists. The free entry was an added bonus.
Queen had recorded at a Studio here in Montreaux, so to have this museum here is very apt. The costumes, letters and memorabilia were great and I learnt a lot about Freddie and the band.

This is the most beautiful clean, personal museum I have ever been in. It’s truly magical, all of the items just blow you away. You can truly see why Queen loved it so much.
I went with my daughter and grandaughter aged 22 months. We were made to feel so welcome. It’s in the most breathtaking place ever, overlooking Lake Geneva. Truly unforgettable trip.

I dislike casinos, but it was worth entering this one for the Queen Studio Experience. Its a bit of an eclectic mix, but there's enough here to keep visitors satisfied. Costumes, mementoes, music and a mixing studio where you can fun re-mixing a Queen track. Also an excellent documentary to give context.

Must visit whether you’re a Queen fan or not. Provides much insight into the making of the albums with many artefacts, right through to the ‘Made In Heaven’ album which Freddie Mercury sadly never got to see the final release. Don’t miss the small theatre hidden in the corner which provides more entertainment and history.
Also will tell you all about the origins of the statue of Freddie on the Montreux waterfront.

Situated inside Montreux Casino and free to enter. Its not very big but is crammed with lots of Queen memorabilia including costumes and original hand written lyrics. There's lots of information about how songs and albums were written and put together. Theres a "cinema" with a short 10 min film and the original mixing desk used by Queen where you can remix four tracks. If you are a Queen fan then this is definitely for you - if you are not a Queen fan then its not!!

Wonderful to see the studio that so many great songs were written and recorded in.Handwritten copies of lyrics, guitars , Freddie’s amazing outfits, the last spot he stood on while making his final recording etc, The greatest stage performer in terms of rock music - what a loss he was.
A fine statue of Freddie Mercury dominates one end of the flower bedecked lakeside walkway of this (quite tatty) town.
The museum is inside a downmarket casino so it does feel dark and a bit trashy. But the actual contents are a must for any Queen fan.

This attraction s free, and amazing. Housed in Casino in Montreux on the site of their original recording studio. It's free, has many pieces of memorabilia and an interactive experience with the mixing desk. It only takes an hour and you can also donate to AIDS research.

bambina di 9 anni appassionata, come noi genitori, dei queen. Può entrare tranquillamente per visitare il museo oppure, visto che l'accesso è dal casinò, ci sono limitazioni in questo senso?
Written 18 May 2022
Bonjour.

Written 23 January 2020
I see that entry is free but will I need a reservation?
Written 1 December 2019
No, not at all. It’s a permanent walkthrough exhibition. There’s no entrance desk, just go in when you want. The only thing we’d do differently next time is to take a Sharpie to write on the tribute wall outside the casino.
As Queen fans, it was a moving experience.

I’m planning on going here one of these years and I saw that some of the responses on here say that it’s free to enter. Is that true? So you don’t have to book a tour or anything?
