Has been a great day trip from Zurich, both kids (7yrs / 9yrs) couldn't get enough of experimenting, playing and finding out. Enjoyed the lighting show a lot! Highly recommended and a perfect "rainy day" activity for a family.

A super place, especially on a rainy day. The Centre has experiments and challenges for all levels and abilities. It helps children to be curious about their world and to have fun with science. Each experiment is explained in a range of languages making it accessible for all. We also use the restaurant which was clean and had a reasonable range of food.

Lots of things to discover in this Science Center. Here you can experience the physical, (electro-)mechanical, chemical interactions by yourself. Multi-language guides are there for a detailed explanation. Be there very early, this place is huge, multi-story and you’ll easily spend a whole day exploring around. Our 2 year old being exposed and accustomed to other science museums before, was amazed by the place. So we decided to come back again next year. A note to first timers with kids: at the entrance level, there is a huge lockers section to lock the stroller and other bits and pieces you most probably might be carrying around. Be sure to have some coins of 2 CHF, as the locker mechanism is working like the shopping carts that you’re inserting a coin to unlock. A second note: The place itself is a bit out of the city, like half an hour train ride away from the downtown. If you end up buying train tickets online to come here, be sure to check the transportation website if the Science Center entrance ticket promotion is still valid. In our time of visit it was valid and we saved approx. 20% by buying the both way train tickets and the entrance tickets to the Science Center and we easily validated them at the entrance level admission counters.

This is the ultimate hands-on science museum. We took our science-oriented six-year-old, and I'd say he was just old enough to really do most of the things, learn from some of them, and really enjoy the place. Additional features like workshops and laboratories start from eight and up. Both the lightning show and the chemistry show are outstanding. The staff is friendly and helpful. Some of the experiments/exhibits are really amazing. We got a two-day museum pass from the Winterthur Tourist Office at the train station, and I'm glad we allowed two days to see most of it. It is easily accessible via public transportation. The only quibble is that the seating for the lightning show is all on one level below the stage, and it's hard to see. The chemistry show is in amphitheater seating. We actually watched the lightning show a second time the second day, looking down on it from an upper-floor balcony, and even though we were farther from the action, we had a better view. Go and enjoy!

40 min from Zurich, you can find this wonderful museum. The range of activities, explanations and interactions is pretty wide making it a fun day playing with magnets, lighting, understanding gasses and soap bubbles. Lots of laugh and fun especially at the time machine making you feel like turning 360, but in reality nothing happened...
