Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Zúrich Opera House has been the home of the Zürich Opera since 1891. It also houses the Bernhard-Theater Zürich and the Zürich Ballet. Currently (July 2020) the house is under renovation, so difficult to get closer to the building. But the Sechseläutenplatz just in front of it provides a lot of space to the impressing building.

We stayed very close to the opera house but could not make a trip to one of the operas. However, we witnessed open opera (house) day. The vast area in front of opera house was converted into a seating area, large projector in place and everyone enjoyed the free opera. It was fully packed with people, family and groups. Amazing experience for us.

If you like ballets then here is the place for you. There is also a free tour day when you can enter and enjoy it's beautiful interior Alternatively you can take in the architecture from the outside. A truly beautiful one. It is a very short walk from Grossmunster to this building. Enjoy.

The opera house looked pretty imposing at the square in front of it. And that makes it stand out from the surrounding buildings. During my visit, there were doing preparations for the film festival, but those did not interfere the enjoyment of admiring the building.

This beatiful theatre , as the Phoenix rose again after the flames.
In 1889 it was destroyd by flames and in 1891 was finished what we can see today.
In this theatre , Richard Wagner represented for the first time the Parsifal.

Total Rip Off! There are several seats which are behind a pole and you literally sea nothing but they tell you that its mentioned “restricted view” I am sorry but look at the photo. This is no view at all. Then when we complained the costumer service man had a massive go on us for complaining and refused to identify himself. Horrible evening left after the break and staid until then only out of politeness!!! Also when you chose a seat online does not specify which seat is totally restricted to give you a bit of a warning. Total Rip off

Saw Carmen, very "post-modern": no set. Really wonderful acoustics and a great orchestra. But seating is very tricky. My seat - "Rang-Loge 10 Reihe 3, Platz 9" selling for a mere $120, was at best limited vision, and at worst, the poorest seat I have ever had for any event. Third row of a "box" seat, we were on stools, since only the first two rows seemed meant for actual seating. My view - see the photo - was absurd. Behind a support column, and no way to actually see anything but that column or the head of the person in front of me. And despite the website that advertised German *and* English surtitles, only German was presented, so English speakers were pretty much out of luck. Oh, and did I mention really hot in the theater? Wow, do not do this without knowing exactly what you are doing!

We bought tickets for the Opera for our last night in Switzerland several months ahead of the performance. The Opera House is a rather grand historic building dominanting Bellevue square. We were able to enjoy a fanstatic production and then walk around inside afterward. The inside is a beautifully ornate building in a classical opera house style. We had box seats, but any seat in the house would have sufficed. Dress of the audience is varied, many coat and ties, a few tuxes, and little more casual for the younger members. I got away with a blazer and no tie since we where traveling, but you would probably want to wear a least a blazer and slacks or a suit. After the opera, there are several bars and restaurants that serve the audience. The performance was subtitled in German and English. A great night out.

The Opera House in Zurich is a beautiful building situated on the edge of the old town, close to Lake Zurich. Did not get an opportunity to visit inside but next time when in Zurich, will certainly take an inside tour.

When you head to Zurich lake, You will see a big square ( on your left ), the great building in the square is the Opera House.. It is very difficult to find tickets, without booking months in advance, also the tickets are Very expensive. At least you can see the Opera House Building.

Podrían decirme si hay que vestirse de largo para acudir a la premier de una ópera en Zürich o vale simplemente con chaqueta y corbata? Gracias
