- JPRaleigh, North Carolina307 contributionsGreat viewsOverall a great experience! It is very easy to get to from Zurich mainstation (essentially just go to platform 21 or 22 and the train leaves about every 20-30 min). We went twice because the first time it was very cloudy and we couldn’t see anything. Give it some time though, a lot of the times in the late morning (10am-11am when the sun comes out) it will clear up! There are plenty of places to get water, coffee, beer, wine, mixed drinks, etc. There is a lot of seating at the top. It’s about a 15 min walk and benches to sit on throughout if you need to rest. There are many other more challenging trails to try also if you wish! There is a restaurant at the top I believe you have to make reservations for but the kiosk with pastries and street food was great! The hillz restaurant/ cafe at the bottom of the hill (where the train comes in and out) was also great! A must do, especially on a good weather day in Zurich.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 September 2023
- rena21163 contributionsSuch a lovely Alpine experienceThanks to Jon F's review, we took the walk to the Feldenegg Cable car. Made use of the 24 hour ticket to take the train from Zurich Bahnhof to the top of the mountain. It departs every half hour and takes 20 minutes. After exploring the mountain area, we set out on well -marked paths to the cable car. There are a few stops along the way and we chose one for cake and coffee. It was sunny with fresh mountain air, great views, dark forests, goats with cow bells, quiet hikers and bicyclists, and tranquility. At the cable car terminus, there's an easy walk to the train back to Zurich. A perfect day of Alpine delight. Highly recommended.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 22 October 2023
- Jan S2 contributionsGreat views on a clear day!Amazing views and good facilities at the top. We caught the tram up and then walked back down into Zurich. The walk is very steep, so don’t think it’s an easy amble! We enjoyed it - but underestimated the number of steps and gradient!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 March 2024
- Allison K48 contributionsFantastic Views and an Easy HikeUetilberg is very easy to get to from Zurich - a quick 20 minute train ride. Once you arrive there are clean bathrooms, a fountain for filling up your water bottle and different hiking options. The views are beautiful and there little pit stops along the way with benches and fountains to take a water break. We really enjoyed this little hike and highly recommend it.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 May 2024
- RBAlabama66 contributionsMust see to see Zurich from aboveA must see around Zurich. People must take the train to arrive here. Do not try to drive up the mountain. The streets signs says the authorities will give you a drive ban if you move forward and try to finish the drive.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 July 2024

Great morning trip up the mountain - 30 minutes train ride and then approx 15 minutes walk up the hill. Different lookout points from the base as well as the lookout tower which has different information on various directions you at viewing from.
You can walk some other trails as well if you want to spend a half day with your own lunch or there is a small cafe by the train station. Enjoyed visiting here as you can get a nice view of the Swiss Alps on a clear day and if you go early, you can pretty much beat the crowds which makes the visit even nicer.
Would recommend.

For those who enjoy non-strenuous hiking and spectacular views, this is a must-see day trip. We took the train from the city, and then hiked to the Felsenegg cable car. It was a few hours walk, with only mild changes in elevation and non-treacherous ground, offering several views of the Lake and surrounding countryside. The cable car itself is one where everyone is packed in, so do not plan on taking pictures unless you are in the front. It finished in Adiswil, a small village with some pleasant houses but no 'attractions', and then we took the train back to Zurich. A 24 hour ticket covers the trains and cable car inexpensively

We hiked approximately 11.5 miles roundtrip from Zurich City Center to Uetliberg. It was worth the visit and had amazing views of the city and the alps along the way. We had coffee and snack in a restaurant at the top. Walking up the tower was worthwhile though it was very windy when we went since there was a storm coming.

This is a must see when visiting Zurich - the views are amazing get to see all over Zurich. Its quite a short steep walk up to the top - defiantly recommend on a clear day to get the best views. There is a restaurant on the top of the mountain with beautiful scenery. Once your at the top there is a observation tower which you can pay 2 Francs per person to go up the top (its a automatic machine/ turnstile) they accept contactless payment. Its very high up and get very very windy. I would recommend seeing and climbing to the top of the mountain.

So worth it. Also near by are some restaurants where you can have a meal or a drink while enjoying the view. There are quite many spots. Some are easy to reach (600 meters from the train station) but you can also go for a 4:30h hike if you want to. (Every route is signposted)

This is by far one of the best places I’ve been too for views. Recommend going at sunset it was beautiful on a clear day with no clouds. Could see all of Zurich city as well as the Swiss Mountains. It was so easy to get too, 20 minute train ride from Zurich then 10 minute walk up to the top. There’s lots of seating areas overlooking the views, I could of stayed up there for hours it was so mesmerising. If visiting Zurich I could not suggest this place enough.

Enjoyed breathtaking views of Zürich and the Alps from the Uetliberg in April 2023. There was light rain and an overcast during my visit. The Top of Zürich observation platform is a short walk from Uetliberg station. There is a hotel and café nearby. The fee to pass through the turnstile gate to go up the tower is two francs (coins or card). A hike from this part of the Uetliberg to Felsenegg is probably less than two hours.

Beautiful place to visit and easily accessible without having to book a tour. We added 2 zones to our Zurich pass so we could meet requirements, very cheap. The S10 line is closed for the summer 2022 so had to take bus but worth the trip.

One of my favourite moments when exploring Zürich. I would definitely recommend visiting Uetliberg, if you have the chance. Took the bus (the train line was closed) which was included in the Zürich card, up the mountain. After a short hike you arrive at the lookout point. It cost around 2CHF/euro to go all the way up on the observation tower, you can pay with coins or card. Hiked the way down towards the Albisgüetli parkplatz which was very great for a beginner.

At the train station (end of the line) there are no accommodations that I saw.The gravel road/trail from the train station goes fairly steeply uphill about a quarter to half mile to a very nice looking mountain top hotel....obviously you can (NEED TO) use the Trip Advisor hotel map search to get your answer and facts so no need to ask the question.

I want to drive as close as possible to an area where I can get good view below,
Does anyone know where I can park my car, enjoy the view for minutes then continue to the next destination.
Thank you

We usually drive right up to Bechenegg restaurant (at Bucheneggstrasse 522, 8143 Stallikon), it’s not exactly the viewpoint that you get from near the radio tower, but accessible by car. From there you can walk about 45 min to the next restaurant Felsenegg. You get the view along the hike and also a nice view from Felsenegg restaurant itself. To avoid any hiking, you can even drive up to Felsenegg (there is no exact address, but you can find it in google maps)

Hello, I plan to drive to Feldermoss parking and take the train to Uetliberg Mountain from there. How much is the train ride per person for this trip return? I googled and checked everywhere and can't find the fare information. And how bad is the hike for senior parents to the lookout.
Thank you
Written 23 August 2018
Hi,
The standard price should be 3.10CHF per person. You should walk to Uitikon Waldegg station and take train from there. It takes about 10mins to get to the top. I don't know how fit are the parents :). I have seen old people doing it but I wouldn't recommend it for people elder than 70 years old.
Written 24 August 2018
How much time does it take to walk to the top and back to the parking? Is it possible to do within 2hours?
