On March 31, 1913, Faisanterie Buitenlust, the forerunner of the current modern animal park Burgers' Zoo, opens its doors to the public for the first time. Since its foundation by Johan Burgers, the first owner and the one who named the animal park in Arnhem, the park has always remained a real family business. Already from its inception the zoo caused a sensation due to its daring new organisation, which naturally is in the way the animals' accommodations are shaped as well as in the way the experiences for the visitors are created. Burgers' Zoo has a rich history, which has shaped the zoo into the way it is today, and as you can still find it now in the wooded area just north of Arnhem.

We were not sure whether to go or not because of the winter time, and it's safe to say that our worries were pointless. In and outside there is plenty to see so one can enjoy their visit no matter the weather. The zoo is huge and definitely taken care of. What made us more than happy is the fact... More

Because the areas of stay for the animals are made to look like their natural habitat, this zoo is one of the best zoos in the Netherlands. You've got all sorts of areas to see the animals in. Like the desert, the ocean, the bush, safari and more. If you love animals then you should visit this zoo.

We were here over winter so many of the animals were inside or in their stables. It didn't makes difference to our visit though. The different areas were fantastic. We particularly enjoyed the jungle and aquarium areas, the elephants and penguins. We also saw a very friendly little seal who was having a great time playing with some ice chunks.... More

Any wheather will do in this zoo. Plenty to see inside and out. I especially love the bush where the bats fly when the sun goes down. Also love the sharks in the ocean part, specifically leopard shark and hammer. Highly recommended!

Agree with other trip advisor members that this is a well designed, nice zoo. Also agree that the signs can be at times a little confusing and that it is difficult to see all areas without passing the bush twice or more often. Best part for me was the ocean. Facilities are good.

Wonderful Zoo where animals live in their own environment. Different areas like Safari, Desert, Ocean. Place also good to organize meetings and symposium. Sufficient parking space. Please come on time, you need your whole day to see all! . For children lot of interactive information. Great playground (Parents don't start here otherwise kids will not go around anymore). Moderate restaurants.... More

Burgers' zoo gives their animals a lot more space compared to other zoos I have been to in the Netherlands. We saw the deep sea musical and weren't really expecting it was aimed to children, but the effects were great!

Really nice modern zoo, that gives animals all the room they need. Visitors get a look inside without desturbing the natural behavior and habitat
