Our Dutch friends brought us to this museum. We didn't know what to expect, but from their description I was imagining a cross between Old Sturbridge Village and The House on the Rock. What we found, was a very large area of land chock full of different style farm houses, town buildings, bridges, ferries and examples of public initiatives, creameries,... More

Have often taken family from abroad there. A collection of typical dutch style houses there interiors and professions brought together in a beautiful forest area. Its easy to spend a whole day therre. Enough restaurants to choose from including dutch pancakes. You won't be disappointed if you go there.

The museum offers a close up look of historical Holland. The museum allows you access to windmills, boerderij, and work buildings, all while enjoying the outdoors!

In most occasions I find open air museum about history quite boring but this one is different. First of all it is a large lovely park with wonderful trees and greens. Second there are many rebuild houses, mills, wharfs, grocery shops etc etc dating different era's. Everything has the real feel because it been rebuild from old material. In many... More

Spent 5 hours here recently: really enjoyed being able to walk around outside so it didn't feel like being in a stuffy museum. It was very interesting - and that's saying something from someone who is not a museum fan. The weather being good helped a lot. Not cheap to get in, but well worth it. Great place for families... We had wonderful weather for our 3 hour visit and unfortunately due to another commitment had to rush through a bit quicker than we would have liked. Great to get some Dutch history and understand what happened during the big floods. Lots of information in English which was good and the same information that was in the guide book that... More

It is amazing to see how the generations have lived and grown here. The people are amazing, the toughness and the culture here must be experienced. Learned much, and enjoyed the place. Can be a bit touristy, has a temporary carnival feel. But look deeper-- these attractions have history to them. Each has a place in the lives of the... More
