Nijmegen's marketplace suffers from its rather dull setting. There is also the lack of Tourist Info office that makes it hard to appreciate. The main church is located in an alleyway surrounded by dwellings and some nice shops. Too bad the authorities do not take steps to make this square the beating heart of the city.

There are few places more relaxing than sitting at one of the many bars / cafes in the market. Service is always excellent, hard to pick a favorite bar, they all have wonderful atmosphere and beer

The Grote Markt is a typical traditional cobble-stone square (actually more like a triangle) in the middle of town. It has several beautifully restored characteristic buildings from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. The beautiful Waag-building is now a cafe-restaurant, with many authentic elements also inside. In good weather, there are many opportunities to sit outside and enjoy... More

We had a great time in the open air market day. Pre holidays so nice treats for purchase. Great vegetables and just a lot of fun to walk around and check out.

Having been to the hague the day before, this market was small and sedate in comparison. Regular flea market stuff.

Saturday market was very good, lots of stall which stayed open in the afternoon. The restaurants around the square are very good too.

It is nice place with old buildings and the St. Stevens church is close by. It is mostly visited for the many cafes including the oldest in Nijmegen.

Grote Market plus Stikke Hezelstr to Burchtstr. is a wide pediatrician mall with shops, vendor carts & cafes. Side streets up to Houstraat to Pauwelstr. same. Come to buy, window shop, or cafe time, or just to walk & people watch. You s/b aware of cobblestones and hilly streets. St Stephen, although not a church, s/b seen.
