The main church of Groningen

Right on the central square of Groningen. If possible attend an organ concert in this church. The Martini cemetery is just behind the church

Quite a long climb, but worth the effort. Breathtaking (literally) to get to the top, but breathtaking (figuratively) when you see the city :)

The steep climb up the tower is definitely worth it for the fabulous views over the city. On several days a week and for festivals the carillion is played live by a hugely talented and energetic musician offering a variety of classical music including Bach and more unusual offerings such as Abba and Leonard Cohen. Well worth the aching legs... More

A stunning tower attached to a beautiful church. Yes there is a lot of stairs as you would expect but the view of Groningen is worth it.

The climb to the top of the tower is not the easiest but you will have a great view over the city center.

You have to climb a lot, but when you get to the top and see the panoramic view of the city of Groningen, and even beyond the city, you'll realize that the exercise was worth it. It's way more windy that the normal Netherlands-windy though. I am not a very strong built person, so I had to actually hold on... More

Steep 300 steps to the top. Nice sceanery across the town, but nothing special. Nice addition to attractions, but don't expect anything extraordinary.

Although it is quite an exercise to climb the stairs (311 steps) to the top you will get a nice panoramic view on the city of Groningen. You can buy your tickets at the tourist information office (3 euros per person) situated on the other side of the street across of the Martinitower. You should really watch your head while... More

Nothing very special about St Martin's tower. It stands out when you reach grote mrkt. Didn't bother to climb up the tower

The Martini tower stands out on the Grote Markt in Groningen. It can be climbed for marvelous city views or admired from one of the many terraces. It lights up lovely in the golden sunshine during the golden hour.
