- Duke of marmaGuildford, United Kingdom121 contributionsCome, stay, see CARO - you’ll thank meXmas - see Caro. We so love it here, came a few years ago, when the children were early tweens, and have just returned. Doesn’t work quite as well now they’re older (Kevin & Perry awkward) but that’s because they’re ‘at that age’ teenagers; even then worth it. What a fantastic place. And if you’re going to come, stay for a few nights, and make sure you take in the CARO show. It’s like a small Cirque du Soleil done just for you - spectacular, and I’d forgotten how awesome it was until I’ve just seen it a second time. Still magic :)Thank you for the kind words!😊 ^RianneWritten 19 December 2022This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 18 December 2022
- Dita KVienna, Austria6 contributionsFairytale parkA huge fairytale park for all ages, we could not do the whole tour of the park because of so many things to see and do, but also because of so many people around. According to affluence stats, on that day the capacity of the park was at its 71%. It was tough, long cues (45-60mins). Next time, we'll book two days or come outside holiday season. Beautiful aqua and light show at the closure of the park. Absolutely breathtaking!Thank you for your review! - 314HahaGermany593 contributionsVery nice!!! all is top!!! a must visit Park in NetherlandsWe were here last June and It was so unforgettable. We bought our tickets right just at the entrance ticket counters, it was a long queue but fast. The park team were really friendly and accommodating. The Gondoletta water boat ride, Max and Moritz, The Vliegende Hollander, Lokomotive train ride and the Piraña river are the rides I can definitely recommend for oldies alike that we definitely enjoyed. That was all exciting and fun. It is a very huge fairy tale - amusement Park. A sight seeing , a walk, shows, foods/snacks, drinks, every corner is Top! a must visit in Netherlands!Thank you so much for your review! - cjp102Whitefield, United Kingdom36 contributionsFabulousI last visited c. 35 years ago and it didn't disappoint! Loved all the rides and great well-priced food options. All the staff were helpful and kind and genuinely happy. We stayed at the Landhuys in Bosrijk (cheapest option) which was great. Visiting in mid -Feb queues were no issue. We also loved the show, Caro. Tips: 1. book your evening restaurants in advance as they get full, but the delivery pizzas were quick and tasty. 2. You can leave your luggage at the store near the main entrance for free if you're staying. 3. Getting the last rides before close is definitely worth it for extra fun. 4. If you're coming into Schiphol it's easy to buy a train/bus ticket to Efteling from the machines in the station.Thank you for your review!😊✨ ^AnnaWritten 23 February 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 February 2023
- michellemancktelowFleet, United Kingdom244 contributionsLovely theme park more for little onesThis is a lovely little park with good theming. At the moment there is a lot of work going on around the park so it wasn’t looking it’s best. The wooden rollercoaster is excellent and Baron is wonderfully themed. The other coasters are just average. There are some usual and unique rides but they are for a younger audience. The snack outlets are very good and I can recommend the bakery for the lemon curd cake. Lots of variety of eating places for full meals or snacks so good for trying new foods. We had a good time but as rollercoaster fans we didn’t feel there were enough thrill rides for us.Thank you for your review! - AlexaMedicine Hat, Canada7 contributionsA good day!We spent a day here (a Sunday) when we were visiting the Netherlands. It wasn't too busy and there was some construction going on so not all the rides were open. However, we mostly went for the thrill coasters which were all open. The wooden roller coaster and the Baron were our favourite. The lines weren't too long. The fairytale forest was lovely - perfect for a wind down after having lunch to settle my stomach before launching back into rides again. The park was clean and the people were friendly. The only disappointment was the food. It was quite bland and the pizza we had at the theatre was very greasy. Overall, we are very glad we visited Efteling and would reccomend that theme park fans take at least a day to go visit when in the Netherlands!Thank you for your review! ^FayWritten 3 April 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 March 2023

Amazing rides, beautiful theming, good thrills and very kind friendly. Food options great too! We spent 2 days over Easter and never waited longer than 25 minutes for a ride. Top tip: eat lunch in the Gondola / Steam Train! Thank you Efteling!Thank you for your review. - MkweSheffield, United Kingdom16 contributionsTrip over EasterVisited this park with a 11 and just turn 15 year old. We had an amazing two days over the Easter weekend. The park is beautiful and there is something for everyone. I especially liked there is no paid fast pass line. This is so great makes for a much better atmosphere. It was very busy when we were there but the queues are managed so well the longest wait was 40 mins. We stayed over night in the loons land hotel and it was fantastic. A must is the show caro it’s an extra cost but it was one of the best shoes I’ve seen, truly moving. All the staff are lovely and friendly and just make it a fantastic atmosphere. Thanks for your lovely review, glad you enjoyed your visit so much! - jcisinthehouseMonterrey, Mexico4,445 contributionsAlmost perfectThe park is amazing and it is definitely one of the best parks I’ve been. However, there are tons of room for improvement. We visited on a very Busy day (that weeks before was advertised as a Lively day) and we didn’t have time to do everything we wanted. I know that is advised to visit the park over 2 days but we’re visiting the Netherlands from abroad and couldn’t allot more than 1 day to the park. My issue is that they can be way more efficient. We were staying at the Hotel so we could enter 30 mins earlier. They let us in before that time but we were on hold right at the entrance until 9:30am. The park is huge, by the time we walked to our first ride it was already 9:50am. 2 big rides didn’t open until 1pm so when they did open the lines were over 1 hour, and we saw many cars with empty seats. The only ride we saw with all the seats filled was Symbolica. Apart from our first ride of the day we spend 40-70 mins in line for every other ride we did. Kids were cutting the lines and parents were later joining them and no one cared about it. The park should have longer opening hours during busy times, or at least offer a paid Fast Pass for people like us with limited time. This may have been our only visit and while the park is great, our visit was not.Thank you for your review and your lovely compliment! We will definitely take your feedback on board. We do hope to meet your expectations on your next visit. ^TomWritten 12 April 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2023
- Autumn mumLeeds, United Kingdom18 contributionsIncredibleThis was our first trip here and it definitely won’t be our last. From start to finish we were so impressed. The park is huge so even on very busy days doesn’t feel overwhelming. The queue control system is very well managed and on our last day ( the busiest) we still weren’t waiting stupid times. The option of child swap and single rider also makes it more efficient. The app is great, you can plan your route based on wait times, it’s really useful knowing which rides will be under maintenance as well. The rides themselves are so well designed that you feel like they are actually immersing you and telling the story, loads of attention to detail and some unexpected surprises in some of them. The variety was great and even though the park is really well suited to younger children there is also a good selection for those who prefer more thrilling rides. There is always seating and food available, never long queues and in some places you can pre order food and collect when it’s ready. We found prices to be fair, we never felt that we paid over the odds for anything. The additional shows are also a fantastic extra to partake in if you’re staying, we thoroughly enjoyed Caro. We stayed at Bosrijk and it was great. Clean, comfortable, food at breakfast was tasty, my son loved having access to the pool. On our first night we ordered pizza to the room as we were tired after travelling and spending the day at the park, it arrived bang on time and was delicious. All the staff we encountered during our stay were lovely. We described this place as a mixture of Alton towers, Disney and a German Market. I’ve not taken my son to Disney but i think if you’re expecting Disney you will find it’s different, it is not as commercial, however theme parks in Britain are not a patch on this place, it is so well managed and you can tell that their guests experience come before profit. my son enjoyed it so much he was walking around asking if it was real, I can’t wait to book another trip.Thank you for the rating. 😍 ^StephanWritten 15 April 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2023Written 15 April 2023

What an amazing theme park. We visited at the end of October 2023. It was our first European theme park visit as a family after years and years of going to the same UK parks over and over again, and what an eye-opener it was.
The Efteling really puts the “theme” into theme park. Every ride and attraction, including other buildings and infrastructure are heavily themed and seamless. The park is absolutely huge - sadly we were only able to visit for a single day so only enjoyed a fraction of what the park has to offer. You would have plenty to do over two or three days (or more).
Food options at the park are impressive - from the basic vending snacks (reasonable prices, hot and delicious), the hot chips on a stick, and the highlight of dining experiences at the park - Polles Keuken (the pancake house). Thank goodness we had booked a table (highly recommended - a lot of walk-ins were stood outside looking very disappointed). The pancakes were amazing (sweet and savoury) with very friendly staff and heavily theming throughout the restaurant. We also had the pleasure of meeting Pardoes, the mascot and face of Efteling, who was walking around the restaurant interacting with guests.
The rides were also very impressive - The Baron is a beautiful B&M dive coaster with a great storyline and impressive theming. It was very smooth and graceful and not as intense as you might think! Highly recommended for thrill seekers who are graduating from the smaller family coasters taking the next step to something bigger. Unfortunately we were unable to experience Joris en de Draak (a fabulous looking GCI wooden racing coaster) as it was closed for maintenance. But we did get chance to ride Max & Moritz, a fun family powered racing coaster with on board music. Fata Morgana was a beautiful dark ride, similar to Disney’s Pirates Of The Caribbean rides but with an Eastern theme. For fans of It’s A Small World at the Disney parks, Efteling’s very own version “Carnival Festival” is highly recommended. The highlight of the park currently is probably Symbolica, an absolutely gorgeous trackless interactive dark ride with music and effects and plenty of appearances from Pardoes. Probably the best dark ride I’ve ever seen. It’s nice to see another addition will be opening at the park in the near future too, the “Danse Macabre” flat ride. I’d love to know what the next coaster will be….
On top of all this and highly recommended is the Fairytale Forest, a collection of animatronics creating scenes from famous (and not so famous) dark fairy tales. This can take up to a couple of hours to see properly, but well worth it if you have the time.
The mantra of the day was “why can’t parks in the UK be more like this”? In fact, we’ve now cancelled our Merlin Passes and will be using the money we’ve been wasting at Alton Towers and Thorpe Park to better use by visiting more European theme parks from now on. But I think the bar has been set pretty high by Efteling. I hope we can come back again soon, as I feel we barely scratched the surface at this amazing park. ❤️

We recently travelled to Efteling with 2 young children under 10 years old. We spent 4 full days in the park and still struggled to do everything. Prices were mostly reasonable. For example, candy floss/ doughnuts were €2, sandwiches were around €6-7. Queues for most rides were no longer than 10 minutes, but could be avoided if timed right. This was during October half term as well! Most attractions were in Dutch, but this didn’t detract from the overall experience. Friendly staff and great surroundings. I’ve been to Disney plenty of times, but will definitely be returning here.

What can be said about the wonderful Efteling that hasn't been already said? This is for me the most charming and indeed magical place in the world. It will fill your heart with a wonderful mixture of awe, excitement, nostalgia and peace.

What a magical place! We visited from the UK after getting recommendations from Dutch friends.
The park itself is pretty big with rides for all ages, we were with a 5 and 8 year old but there are rides big enough for older kids and adults. The theming is incredible and detailed, and the staff are all super friendly and helpful. the fairy tail woods are definitely worth a walk around - we visited as it was turning dark and it really added to the magic.
We also found the food much nicer than UK theme parks - they served what felt like actual meals at a reasonable cost.
We stayed overnight in the Efteling Hotel which gets you two full days in the park (so it’s t quite as expensive at it looks at face value). Highly worth it - it’s a lovely hotel and gets you direct access to the park 30mins before opening (though be aware this is only really for the main rides - and does not include symbolica).
We will definitely be going back!

Wonderful day out as park suited both younger children as well as teens. We went at UK October half term and the weather was torrential rain until the Thursday. This must have put people off, as although it was dry all day, the park was quiet. We waiting about 5-10 minutes for most rides including the big coasters which we went on a couple of times (each one).
Plenty of staff around and rides were well managed and controlled.
Many of the rides are hidden inside buildings so you don’t know what you are getting, until you step inside. A lovely mix of ideas, such as a boat ride, which turns into a roller coaster and ends up back in the water. Great fun!
We had a lovely lunch at a large cafeteria near the grand station. As well as the usual ( junk) food, hot dogs and chips etc, they served a selection of homemade soups, salads and baguettes which is great for the mums!
Plenty of room and lush gardens, a spacious feel to the park which is clearly well run, and set up for enormous numbers. Worth going on a quiet day for sure, as for me, crowds and queues would ruin it - but not always possible.
They are building a new hotel there which may be interesting for future trips.
The entrance fee for us was 45 euro per person, which I thought was reasonable compared to other places.
Worth researching for sure!

The Efteling has a lovely magical feeling to it, and I think that I’ve been around 10 times now. We bring our kids once a year and they love the treat and day out together.
The best tip I can give is to download the app in advance. The park is big and so the app helps as there is an interactive map and most importantly - you can see the wait times on all of the rides.
The fairytale forest is so sweet - it’s part of the magic of the Efteling so don’t miss it.
My favorite ride is the Dream-flight/Droomvlugt which is so much fun and is the very definition of the Efteling. Sadly on our visit today it was closed, but it’s still remains my #1
I love the wooden roller coaster called Joris and the Draak - it’s so fast and so much fun. Also, the Flying Dutchman - a real highlight.
How to beat the queues?! Good question. Avoid busy days if you can but outside of that, use the app and look at the wait time of the rides and move around based on that. We pick our top ride each - make sure we do them, and then we move around as the q times are shorter. If you can, the single rider option is a life saver! If you want to all sit together then that’s fair enough, but if you don’t mind going on the single rider, your wait times can be cut dramatically. That way, you can also do more on each day. For example some single rider waits were 10 mins whereas the regular q was 45 mins.
Efteling is also great as there are lovely play areas that are not rides, it’s a nice break in the day.
The park is sparking clean. It’s is also beautifully maintained.
As you can bring your own food and drinks it’s also good to note that there are also lockers which you can use.

I had an incredible time at Efteling. The app is very good for wait times, the longest time I had to wait was under 20 minutes, I managed 17 attractions in one day which I'm very happy with. The fairy tale theme is amazing, the music is so catchy, personal favourite songs are Carnaval Festival, Droomvlucht, Max & Moritz and De Vliegende Hollander. I'm so excited to return to this beautiful park one day.

Eftling is a massive theme park - we did 25,000 steps in the day. In the morning, it was incredibly busy - both to get in, for parking and then to enter the attraction. Lots of queues on the rides (was helpful to identify the rides ahead of time via the app and also use the app to see queue times). We were only able to get 2 rides done in the morning - so did feel like a waste of time, but after 3pm things started to quieten down and were able to do lots of rides in the afternoon/evenings - glad that it closes at 10pm as we spent the whole day there and then it was worth it. There are no really big rollercoasters but good choices for families. One thing to note is that the shows were all in Dutch with no English translations so could have skipped this. The fairy tale park is nice. Would recommend the park overall.

Thank you for your review. How nice to hear that as the crowds subsided you were still able to see many attractions in the end. We will take your feedback about our shows internally and hope to see you again another time in the World of Wonders! ^Ramona

After being underwhelmed by Eurodisney last year, mostly how long ride wait times were and how they have hiked up the prices since Covid, we decided to check out Efteling this year instead, with our son now 6.
We stayed at the Borsrijk village which is about a 15min walk to the park and the accommodation was great, having a separate bedroom for children is very handy and the pizza delivery direct to your room is a nice touch.
The park itself has more of a relaxed feel than other similar parks and wait times for rides when we were there during the UK school holidays never went over 45mins, even for the most popular rides.
There are also lots of non ride areas, like the water park, enchanted forest etc. Which a lot of people use, which helps keep the park never feeling overcrowded.
Food and drink are at a premium as it's a theme park, but still around half what disney now charge, also all the staff are so much more friendly.
They were refurbishing their horror area when we were there as they have a new, first of its kind, ride opening there next year, so have already booked to go back in 2024 and can't wait.

Bonjour, est ce que le parc est décoré pour Noël et est ce que cela vaut la peine en cette période? Est que les spectacles sont en français? Merci

Hi we are planning to visit Efteling in February 24 with our 3 sons aged between 13-8. My question is would a 3 night stay be enough to do everything?
Thank you

Hi,
Should be enough to see it all. Depends on the actual crowd you might have in the park. In February, the Dutch schools have their holiday week (which has been spread in the regions north, center and south) which you can find on the Dutch government website. I cannot link here, not allowed but for Feb 2024:
17-02 - 25-02 (north, center) and 10-02 - 18-02 (south)
When schools have holiday, it might be somewhat more busy in the park. If you want to do it all, your kids need to be tall enough to enter all rides. Measurement is taken when you enter a ride and they will provide you with a colored bracelet which shows eligibility. (at least when I was there this year with my 7 yr old twins).
As others stated here as well, make sure you download the app so you have a map and you can see waiting time, and if you book your stay with Efteling Hotel/park take advantage of the extra hour for park/hotel guests only.

Hello, is Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday on the last week of September the best for lower crowds and which rides have the longest & shortest wait times?

There was not a difference in the level of crowds from one day to another. The park is open from 10am to 10pm (summer), after 6pm it quietens down. Jenny x

I'm planning on coming here in late September. I've looked on the website and I'm confused on what each ticket means? E.g what's the difference between Giant, Dragon and Fairy ticket?

We will be coming from the US and I'm trying to reserve a hotel room and cannot figure out how to enter the US phone number in a way that will let me book a ticket? Have tried every combination of the number I can think of, with and without the 1, with and without dashes or spaces, does anyone know the trick? Leaving the phone number blank doesn't seem to be an option either. There are clearly a number of US and UK visitors so there must be some work around I'm not thinking of.

Hi there! I just booked our June trip. We live in North Carolina. I was able to put 1... then my area code and number. I did have to call my credit card company first so they would allow the card to be used. I learned that after trying 3x to book. I got the Efteling app and created an account. Then our overnight stay showed up in the app. According to the nice staff at Efteling (I made one very expensive phone call), our tix will show up in the app about 8 days before our stay. I hope this helps. I can't wait for our visit! I'm now trying to find the best way from Efteling to AMS airport. Have a wonderful time!

Hi! We’re 2 adults and will be visiting Efteling next month on a Thursday. The park opens at 10am but we’ll be staying at the hotel so we can enter at 9:30am. My question is what ride should we go first? Go to Symbolica and get it off the list, or do some other rides first?

We will be in Amsterdam from US for a vacation and would like to take our 6 year old daughter to Efteling for the day. Would you recommend renting a car for the day to drive down and back or take public transport? We’ve driven in Ireland, Spain and France so it wouldn’t be our first time driving out of country.

Hi There, it is very comfortable by car but it is also a nice adventure travelling by Train and Bus from Amsterdam to Kaatsheuvel Efteling. You can search efteling public transport. I am sure it states there information and it is very easy connections. Netherlander can communicate well also in English and they are very friendly.
I wish you and your daughter a very nice Holidays ahead
