- Renee J4 contributionsTrust me, just go there!Amazing and unique experience. Go with no expectations, or time limit. Really throw yourself into the experience and let your curiosity come through. I had little idea what to expect when I went to the maze, and that mysterious aspect played a role in the overall experience. Just go and see for yourself, it's unlike anything else.Hey Renee, thank you for your nice review! - Bout B5 contributionsMy,my,my Doloris...If you were ever lucky enough to go to peristal singum in Berlin (and I was) you ll love and seek out Doloris Meta Maze as it's by the same creators. In fact we flew to Netherlands just for this! It's been described as Escher meets Alice in wonderland. Maybe a lazy comparison but the awe, art, curiosity, possibilities and at times seemingly impossible are all there. It's a wonder warren. Crammed full of art and play. Ascend, descend, hang, crawl. If you're seeking the surreal it's all around you. Don't be put off entering separately if you come with others. Get the heart beats up with the blindfold. The intention is good. Be excited by it. You choose your own adventure. You push your own levels of comfortable to get to different levels.. or not. It feels so good to scrape heads/knees/move intentionally into the dark. And get lost. You ll definitely see the people you came with inside, but have your own fantasy and catch up in the bar afterwards.THey Bout, how amazing that you experience the Peristal Singum as well! Thank you so much for your nice review. Hopefully we may welcome you again when our new maze in Utrecht opens! -DolorisWritten 1 February 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 January 2024
- Scenic381847132412 contributionsUnique experience, unleashing your inner childGreat and very unique experience. Like being a child in a playground again. You're being helped to not keep track of time by not being allowed any timekeeping devices inside, but when you start exploring there's no need for it as you will be too curious looking around anyway. Would recommend to anyone, although you should not be afraid of ladders and crawling.Hey Scenic, thank you for your visit and review! -DolorisWritten 1 February 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 29 January 2024

So let's start with a general review for everybody:
First of all, I do like the idea of what they did. The vibe is mysterious from the beginning, they did that very well. My friends and I really enjoyed that. I think the expectations were different, I was hoping to be 'wow-ed' and amazed all the time but that was just not it. It was mostly extremely dark and hot, and the exit was basically right next to the beginning which was not that much fun. For me, it was more of a haunted house feeling without the scary moments.
They did let in too many people at once also, so as you start alone, you will not experience this alone. Which took away the magic a lot.
This review is only applicable to claustrophobic people:
So here is my honest review of my personal experience. I know there is a statement on their website that tells people that are claustrophobic should not go. I did read multiple reviews from people telling me that it's not that bad, so I decided to go.
I admit that I came with an expectation to get a 'wow' factor and I was hoping to get a 'trippy' feel. This was just not it. It was a lot of crawling and ultimate darkness and I got the feeling of a haunted house 90% of the time.
Also, having claustrophobia, this got to me very very quickly and I can say this was my living hell. Lucky that I found other people to guide me around, if I had experienced this alone I would have quit within 2 minutes inside. It was no fun at all and there was nothing magical to experience. I really do not understand how people review this as an amazing experience.
I think they do let too many people inside at the same time because you will never be able to walk alone which makes the experience not as fun as it should be. For me, it was a real comfort because people instantly told me where the exit was, so I knew how to get out quickly.
So my summary is this:
It's a new experience, and if you are not claustrophobic you should do it sometimes. Don't expect too much, but if you think about it as just a maze then you'll have a great time forgetting time and the outside world for a while.
If you are claustrophobic, be warned. You won't have fun at all and want to quit within minutes because it's ONLY crawling through narrow spaces.

Hey Z8306YEkevin, it's unfortunate to hear this was your personal experience at the Meta Maze. As stated we do give a warning for claustrophobia on our website and of course this is totally different per person. The reviews you have read about people telling it's not too bad might be people who have a less severe form of claustrophobia. The exit might have felt next to the entrance, but this is not the case. If you take the 'right' route, you might end up close to the exit immediately, but when you would have taken a different route/path/doorway, it could take a while before you would have found it. Nevertheless, it's unfortunate to hear your experience. Hopefully you felt better when you were back in the lounge and hopefully you've visited the Rooftop to get a breath of fresh air. -Doloris

We went there as a group and as you can only go alone in the maze, you had to wait to be picked out one by one by a very unfriendly lady.
We were not allowed to carry a watch, but we have waited at least an hour before the first one could go in. Then several people from other couples went in, whilst we were waiting and waiting, and in the end, two of our group of seven came back from the maze before the other five even went in.
When I finally was allowed to go in, the fun spirit was gone and I hesitated if I really still wanted to go. But hey, after waiting so long... and how did I regret this decision...
I walked through non-ventilated airless corridors, with the odeurs of fear sweat, and I was not amused at all. And I just wanted to get out. I had seen a couple of green escape buttons, but the moment I really had enough I did not see any. Alas, the horrible slide was not the exit, but I was fortunate enough to found the blue door quite quickly - hooray.
The video on the Meta Maze site shows some exciting rooms, but I only came across damp, trashy corridors, the horror!!! When I was out I was relieved until I realised what a COVID-19 risk I had taken.

Hey TaruGina, we'd like to apologize for the long waiting when you visited the Meta Maze this week. As our hostess indicated it was very busy that day and the waiting took a little longer than usual. It is usual that the gatekeeper takes people at random from the waiting area because it an individual experience. This prevents people from sticking together inside. The hostess also explained why you could not bring your watch because it's an experience where you lose track of time. We do have several air conditioners scattered in the Meta Maze, just like the fresh air supply that is constantly on.
The video you see on our website is the story about the gatekeeper and how he discovered the Meta Maze. We never show any video or photo material from the inside of the Meta Maze, hence the reason why you can't take your phone inside, to keep the Meta Maze a mystery.
Again, we're sorry you did not have an amazing experience at the Meta Maze. You are always free to come in contact with us about your experience at itsme@doloris.nl -Doloris

We went with 5 friends, it was super exciting to see what awaits you. The website didn't really make you any wiser.
To be honest, I overlooked the fact that you were going in alone. We actually liked it less.
After booking I found out that you should not be claustrophobic, this should actually be clearly indicated on the website on the homepage.
After reading the reviews we were enthusiastic, magical, breathtaking, an experience and that is why you go in alone, it sounded promising.
Unfortunately, a major disappointment, we found it too dark, too small spaces, nothing magical or breathtaking. Fortunately, after about 10 minutes I met 2 friends and 5 minutes later we found the exit and got out.
Very unfortunate and still quite pricey.
My tip would be to provide some more information about what to expect to avoid disappointment.

Awesome experience, never been in a place like this one before. The creators had a very original and creative idea. Loved it! Also, it is great we do not get any 'spoilers' on the website before entering the Meta Maze, everything is kept in a secret. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed it a lot, hope to be back there again some day! :)

Amazing from start to finish. The small details from once you have booked your tickets right up until you leave the maze is perfectly executed. It gives you the suspense and excitement without even knowing what to expect. The art work and layout is there to ultimately heighten your senses and my tip is to be as free as possible once inside, that way you get the ultimate experience.

I didn't think this was such a great experience as many others say.
Overall you crawl, climb and walk in a more or less very dark and partly well build environment.
If you love crawling around in darkness this maze is for you.
What I didn't like was that it was so hard to see anything in some of the rooms so I collide a couple of times quite hard with sharp edges/corners and my head/elbows started to bleeding.
I think the experience would be a lot better if you can interact much more with parts in the rooms in some way..... touch something and a door opens, a video plays or sound is heard.
What also is a little sad is that you don't know how many rooms you have entered during the journey, is it 20 or 40? I have no idea!
After one hour inside entering the same room the 5'th/6'th time I went out via the Exit door!
The rooftop bar was great, (like most rooftop bars are nowdays).

Get ready to be surprised. One of a kind experience. It’s a multi sensory adult playground, for those with an open mind, ready to explore, experience, and embrace the unexpected. Not for the faint of heart or the Disney boxed entertainment seeker. It’s hands on, ears and eyes open, Alice in Wonderland meets experimental art, creepy crawly, do it yourself fun.

We visited the Meta Maze on our way to our holiday destination. I had received this tip from a colleague, so it was high time to use it.
There are a few terminals at the downstairs location, where you scan your ticket and receive a coin. Then take the freight elevator up, which is a funny experience.
Upon arrival you can rent a locker for a few euros or use a phone case. We had some more stuff with us so we rented a locker. I thought it was a bit silly that it had to cost 2.50, but whatever.
We then received an explanation of what we were going to do, and we were taken inside one by one. I think that's a nice setup, you have to figure out and discover everything yourself without distraction from someone you know / someone else.
The maze is quite exciting at first, you don't know what you will encounter and many rooms look so strange that it makes you think.
Coincidentally, I had already found the exit after 5 minutes. I then went through the rest of the maze a few times until I was sure I had done everything.
The nice thing about a weekday is that you hardly meet anyone. You then have all the time and space to discover, listen and watch.
After about 45 minutes I had seen everything a few times and walked to the exit.
All in all a nice experience.

This is really fun, for children and adults. It's difficult to fathom, you can't just figure it out. Not suitable for people with walking difficulties, small children and people who don't like very small, narrow spaces, we sometimes just barely fit through, and neither of us are big or sturdy. Photos are not allowed because you hand in your phone, including smartwatch

Really unique experience. Wear comfy clothes/shoes, certainly no skirt/dress. Be prepared for fun, amazement, exercise, excitement, etc. all in one! Only minor point is that it is a bit expensive with a whole family and there are no hints to help you if you keep ending up in the same rooms.
