Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The northeast wing of the building at Langestraat maybe from 1520, but the facade is late 19th century. The tower as well underwent significant changes (the upper part was added). Still overall it is an attractive almost festive building.

It must date back to 1800s as the Architecture is unique and combines both Dutch (City Hall) combined with Gothic arches and towers (as in Churches). Could not go in due to renovation work, but can go around to appreciate the period of the building and it’s intricate components.

Whilst spending a week in North Holland we spent a day in the beautiful city of Alkmaar. A lovely place to wander around, stop for a bite to eat and then wander some more

Not very friendly populus, not a pleasant experience. Just another small ton with nothing to do, not very sophisticated folks.

We chose to stay in the countryside not far from Alkmaar. We found it to be a lovely city and enjoyed a walking tour which included a stop at City Hall.. The City Hall is one of the highlights of the architecture of the city with ornate designs and an impressive double staircase. It really stands out among the buildings surrounding it..

Alkmaar is quite close to Amsterdam. It takes only 35 minutes to get there by train. The city is very beautiful, quiet, clean and cozy.Nice church, great cheese museum, local library(free WiFi is available in the library).Actually,There is no cheese market in winter. It is open between April and September.I still enjoy everything here.Dutch people are very friendly and helpful.Almost everyone here can speak English. The Dutch kroket in Alkmaar is better than the one in Amsterdam.
