We stayed at the Park Hotel in the museum quarter, a lovely hotel in the best area to stay in Amsterdam. Surrounded by the most amazing museums in the world, luxury shopping at its best and the beauty of the canals. The best of Amsterdam collides in the Museum Quarter. Brilliant!!!

Loved the beautiful buildings & their contents :-) Wonderful way to spend the day with the family. The various museums definitely satisfy the art lover in you & the wide spaces outside allow the kids to move freely.

I lived on this street in 1975 and loved going into the Vondelpark for contemplation and window shopping to wish I had more money to spend, and to the museums as much as I could. It was easy to ride my bike to work on Herrengracht, not too much bike traffic, or to take the tram. Ideal place.

We walked here (from Railway Station area) & took our time (think it was 30+ min) and stopped for coffee along the way...closer to the Museum Quarter than the Railway Station as the cafes seemed better as we got closer to the 2 museums we planned on visiting (Van Gogh & Rijks Museum). It's worth allowing more time than we... More

The quarter is a must see in Amsterdam. The IAmsterdam sign alone attracts hordes of tourists. We were there on a cold, sunny day and there were hundreds of people taking photos, climbing all over the sign, and ice skating in the outdoor rink. You can get a beer or a hot chocolate and enjoy people watching.

Definitely the area to go if you wanna spend some time with the top scenic spots like Rjik and Van Gogh museum! And iconic landmark 'iamsterdam' locates here! I by chance booked a hotel in the area and was amazed by the lovely surroundings like museums and cafes, more cozy than the central station area which seemed a bit too... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
