We visited the Rembrandt House Museum on the 23 April. The crowds were heavy so I would recommend using e-tickets. The exhibits are interesting although almost everything is a reproduction of an original piece that was found on an inventory. Toilet facilities are small. Audio guide is useful. There isn't anywhere to sit and appreciate the exhibit of art after... More

A tourist's delight with so many museums right next to each other. Can spend hours wandering into one or the other.

In this area is the Rijks Museum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum. The Museumplein is an attractive green space to relax between museum visits, and there's no charge for enjoying this area. This is also where the iconic I Amsterdam sculpture is situated. When we visited in April, there were masses of beautiful tulips.

This location is great when one wants to plan on spending an enriching day in Amsterdam. The museum have good collections, the Van Gogh museum is awesome. It is well worth spending a day there especially on the weekend when one can walk from there to the flower market. The mix of culture upliftment with the add on bonus of... More

This is a great area, looks pretty and has multiple famous museums. The architecture is great as are the surrounding residential buildings. Essential to visit.

Every first-timer has to come here and take the requisite shot in front of Rijksmuseum and the iconic I <3 Amsterdam sign. But even for the repeat visitors, there are simply so many museums to do here it's practically worth re-visiting many times. A true cultural treasure of Amsterdam.

Great place to just hang out, enjoy the sun (when shining) and take breaks between museums. I bought my lunch and sat on the many park benches and areas for sitting. This is also where the Iamsterdam sign is located.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
