Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The tour started 30 minutes late and then we had to wait in line, because there was no special entrance for group tours. The guide was friendly and had a lot of knowledge, but her accent made it hard to understandher sometimes.
All in all I enjoyed the museum a lot, bu next time I would do it without the tour, since there is an audio guide available.

The Anne Frank tour itself was good. The tour guide was fantastic. The email from TripAdvisor did not advise us that we needed to go to a different location and we ended up at the Anne Frank house which was not where the tour was to begin. We couldn’t find anybody to advise us where to go. Thankfully, my tour guide called and an hour later we were able to catch up with them. We miss an hour the tour, however, the tour guide brought us up to speed about what they have covered prior to meeting us. I kept checking my email to see if I missed something about the directions and check the ticket but there was no information on there about where to go.
At the end of the walking tour, we went to a coffee shop for a virtual reality of The and Frank house which was great we would recommend this tour make sure you know where you are meeting your tour guide before getting dropped off by your cab.

I'm sorry to hear that you went to the wrong location. Our booking confirmation via the portal you used automatically sends out information regarding the start location. This may have gone into your spam/junk folder, or perhaps you entered your email incorrectly. The ticket you receive from Trip Advisor also has this information, and that is also on the app too. I'm glad to hear that despite issues regarding the start location, that you were able to catch some of the tour and that you enjoyed it.

First off, the guide seemed nice and what little of the tour I experienced was good. The problem was the organization. I booked this the evening before. The start time was 930. The tour was 2h. I needed to catch a flight so my time was tight and I had to leave by 1130 (when the tour should have ended). I received a confirmation with the 930 am start time. I messaged the operator in the morning to make sure it was still on as I had only booked the evening before. I was informed it was on but the tour would be starting late at 10am as the museum was opening at 10. I told the operator that was not possible for me because of my flight and asked to cancel. They refused as it was a “last minute request”. Sure. Ok. But I had also booked it literal hours before and they changed the time in the interim. Therefore it was not actually the tour they had sold me. They said there would be no refund if I cancelled (did not even offer to refund minus entry fee that they may have already paid for). The reason was “it is possible for you to do the tour in 1.5 hours (but I paid for 2h?)” and since the tour was going ahead, that was just too bad. Not sure how they thought the 2 h tour could be shortened to 1.5h on a group tour. They sent a notification on the app At 8:50 am (which I didn’t receive until later in the day anyways) changing the start time to 10am. Other people there on the tour showed up at 930 because most people would already be on their way by 850 and didn’t notice the message until they checked their phones to see where the guide was. I was not the only one angry about this. Once we got going we were surprised to wait in line for the “skip the line tickets” (they were regular tickets) the explanation was “there is usually no line”. This is false. I had gone by the museum the day before and there was a long line outside. The guide had no communication from the operator that I was on a short timeline. And there was no 1.5 hour tour accommodation as I had expected. We did not enter the museum until around 1020. The guide spent most of the first part going over a timeline of Van Goghs life on the wall and not looking at the paintings. Totally fine but at this point I realized I only had an hour left in the tour so I decided to leave, get an audio guide, and move on without them so I didn’t miss any major stuff I wanted to see. Ended up having a great experience with the audio guide which is excellent. So overall would recommend skipping this tour and just paying your entrance fee and checking out the audio guide. I ended up paying really expensive admission for basically nothing. Understand some is on me for the tight timeline but beware, once this operator gets your money, they take no responsibility if they change the tour specifics and the ticket will
Not let you skip the line. Overall quite disappointing.

We are sorry that you were disappointed with the tour. The change of opening time was something that the museum itself did last minute and everyone who booked was informed of the change of time when we received their booking details. You received your notice last minute as you booked last minute, however, we did send you notification well before the start of the tour. Sadly, we are not able to open locked doors, so yes, there was a little time to wait before you could go in as quite a few people would have tickets for an earlier time slot. Tickets are sold with a specific time slot, which is why it is possible to avoid any queues, as you are permitted to enter at the time allocated (when the museum is open). The tour you booked was for 2 hours and that was the tour that was conducted. When you informed us that even if we finished at 11.30, that would be too late for you, we did our best to accommodate you. A full refund was not possible at this time as you had taken a slot and ticket that someone else could have booked. As we discussed, you were welcome to cancel the tour or leave at any point, but as this was a group tour (you seemed surprised it wasn't private), it was not possibly to tailor the tour specifically to your timeframe. This tour is offered as a shared group experience and a way for people to see the museum with an expert guide when the tickets have sold out. This was the tour that you were given.

We had a great time, very informative. We had to catch up to the tour but Anna caught us
Up quickly. The VR experience was very cool and we could see how it would have been for the family to live.

I am someday going to do this tour live, but right now it is just virtual. One of the best guides. Stephan's imagination has no limits. His knowledge of the area along with embellishments makes it one of the best spooky Halloween tours I have ever seen (except for last year!!!) Always a must see.

Our tour was canceled at the last minute. This was to be the highlight of our stay and so a big disappointment. We did still have tickets to Anne Frank house and that was quite impactful.

Unfortunately, our guide called in sick at very short notice, and despite trying our hardest, we were unable to get a replacement guide. We did offer to run the tour at alternative times, and we appreciate that sadly that wasn't convenient for you. We have issued you a full refund, and again apologise for your disappointment. We are glad to hear that you could make good use of the tickets and enjoyed your visit.

Ashton was incredible and brought the story and life of Ann Frank to life on our tour. I thought I know the story but this tour shows you so much more. You start by walking through Amsterdam and up the canals learning about the Netherlands resistance to Nazi’s as well as their failings. Eventually you get to a cafe where you do a viral tour of the Frank’s hiding space while being but a block from their actual home and just a few minutes from what was once the Nazi SS headquarter. Maybe it was just how good Ashton was but this was tremendous.

Thank you for your review. Yes, a good guide can always make an interesting story even more impactful. The stories of Holocaust and resistance are countless because they changed millions of lives.
