I have lived a few years in Amsterdam and this is always a nice street to come to. Loots of little shops and restaurants, grocery marks and special stores. off to the right from CS (most people walk straight to the dam) you ll find this little street leading to the westerpark. Also a nice entrance from here into the... More

Many unique and quirky shops, excellent food to be had in the many cafes, don't miss Unlimited Delicious for some fabulous sweet things and coffee or The Movies theatre if you want to see a film. There's an altogether great, relaxed atmosphere along this lively street.

I love this street. So many unique shops (like &K), great cheese shops, chocolatiers, classier weed bars, grocery stores - everything you need on one street. A total recommend for a nice afternoon - don't go on Sunday though, most stores are closed.

Tourist shops abound, but so do little bakeries, cheese shops, and a few good restaurants. The coffee shops are very popular here, and the street draws a wide variety of wanderers - from families to smokers....wonderfully cosmopolitan!

Haarlmeerstraat was voted the best shopping street of the Netherlands, and the reason is evident. With Haarlemeerdijk attached, this long road from the Single canal right through tot he Westerpark, houses many unique shops which are not found anywhere else. From clothes, sweet shops to animal stores and games stores you will be guarenteed to come out the other end... More

many independent shops and 2nd hands, away from known brands and obvious clothing. Easy to reach as it's close to Central station, this street is nice for an alternative saturday shopping.

If you approach from the Central Station end you may well wonder what the fuss is about since it's the usual tourist trap shops which prevail. But persevere and you will find more and more intriguing small shops etc.

Haarlemmerstraat is a nice street near the Central Station of Amsterdam, where you can find some unique small shops and cosy restaurants. It does not hold the big chain shops, so if you are looking for those, please head to the nearby Nieuwendijk or Kalverstraat. Just have a browse and be surprised. Enjoy.
