Place is bubbling with activity. Its crowded and there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Not the right place if you are looking for a quiet spot. On the other hand if you want to sip a drink and watch people, this is the place.

Leidseplein is a handy place to get off at when accessing the city by tram. The square area itself is a bit of a dump, but worth grabbing a seat and spending an hour or so people watching! You see some cracking sights, especially as it gets later. We witnessed Brits in full action, letting the side down as usual.... More

Leidseplein is perfect for those who like night life either if it is only for one drink or to go clubbing, it is full of bars, restaurant, any kind of food. I would recommend the Chicago Social Club. It is also the location of the Melkweg (concerts venue) and you can go shopping there during the day

I wonder why all these (foreign and domestic) tourists need to go here. It's busy. Very busy. And all the restaurants mostly are very expensive with bad value for money. However, there are some hidden delights if you look around the neighborhood (head for the canals, Herengracht).

There is almost always something going on - grab a coffee or a beer and do a little people watching!

This square has a real buzz about it, and whether you take to it really depends on what you want out of it. It is loud. It is busy. Think Piccadilly circus, London. We saw lots of people on stag dos getting drunk. The Bulldog on the square is part of a chain that sells cannabis. Quite a young crowd... More

You have here a great choise of restaurants, at good wheater you sit outside. The houses around are old, and you can rest sipping a coctail or a beer or drink a coffee.

There are many restaurants in this area, many with outdoor seating so you can have a leisurely meal , glass of wine and watch the people pass through this busy area. You can also stroll by the beautiful canals.

We sat down with my wife for a couple of hours, sipping a local draft beer, eating a baguette sandwich that was exquisite. The temperature was 75 F, a gust of wind was blowing, it was just perfect...Thank you Amsterdam for the good times.
