This is a nice park but in the winter I found it much more fun to bike than walk. It's easily accessible near the museum quarter. I walked a bit one day but went back with a bike and really covered some ground. It's a good place to ride a bike in Amsterdam if you're hesitant to ride on the... More

My boyfriend and I visited Vondelpark on our final day in Amsterdam after a weekend of partying at Amsterdam Music Festival. It was a lovely autumn afternoon and the park was so breathtakingly beautiful. We ended up sitting on a bench for hours just reflecting and taking it all in. Would highly recommend as a great place to finish off... More

With various lakes and walkways, it resembles a smaller central park from New York. It is situated very close to the Museum Square, and as a result, can be easily reached via walking. It is a nice place to relax, especially in the summer months.

It is very good for walking, running, to sit and read book or just to relax. You can go there to have picnic with friends or family.

This is picturesque park is a lovely sanctuary from crowded Amsterdam streets. I went with my family in spring, the weather was awful, too bad; it was on our list of attractions and I'm glad we went. In the park you will find ponds, ornate foot bridges, tulips (it was spring) and manicured lawns. Due to the weather we practically... More

We did a cycle tour that included Vondelpark. The surrounding area is lovely and upmarket, hence stay in the area if you can. I would have preferred it to staying in the Authentic Amsterdam Red District experience.

Perfect for bike riding and four good places to have coffee and eat. Also has some of the higher end shops in the vicinity and close to all the museums

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
