Waterlooplein is within the centre of Amsterdam and is served by the metro and there are also trams too.
The market in the area is well worth checking out as you may well pick up a bargain. The stall holders are all quite friendly and prepared to do a deal with you.

I was very disappointed in this market. It was fairly large, and mostly filled with used clothes and shoes. Some of the vendors were simply dumping bags full of clothes on the ground. There were a couple of antique dealers, and I did buy some cute art prints, but otherwise, it was a waste of time.

We visited on a sunny Saturday and there were lots of vendors stalls. All different types of stalls and great for rummaging for a bargain.
Some tourist stuff available priced better than the shops as you head to the station.
Stall holders were helpful and know their stock, so chat and ask if there is something you are looking for. If it’s not what you want no pressure from the stall holders we spoke to. Some stall holders have new as well as second hand.
There are also some shops in the area which a good to pop in, if you are looking for something specific.

We also walked through on Tuesday morning around 1030 and not as many stalls.

Cant see the point to be honest. A bit of flea market/ antique/ vintage stuff but mostly tie dye shirts and cheap leather jackets and normal market stuff with clothes and shoes. I found the same with the Albert Cuyp market, maybe I missed a good day but I was looking for antiques and the like and as a visitor I dont think this was interesting. Fine if you're a local though.

It is an average flea market. There are a lot of clothing items, some souvenirs, and a number of other things. Because it was near our hotel and on a couple of "top places to visit in Amsterdam" lists, we visited. It was okay. There was nothing we wanted to purchase, but we did find a nice restaurant on the same square.

Very nice and friendly flea market. I bought a few souvenirs there. They are cheaper there than in the shops.
There were also old storage boxes, old postcards, pictures, clothes, bikes and much more.
If you have time you should check out this flea market😊. I really liked it.

If you come during the week the "regular" stall owners will be there, with their fixed prices and their items that you can find at one hundred other markets and stores throughout the City. The weekend is when the real action happens. This is a real "haggler's" market. Come early and look around. Don't act too interested in anything. Casually ask what the price is, then make a face like you have eaten a lemon. Oh, that price is just ridiculously high. Walk away. Either the vendor will come after you to offer another price or he will let you go because you are so out of the ballpark. Do not be afraid to bargain. Come with a thick skin and small bills. If you come towards the end of the day you can usually get the item cheap, since the vendor will otherwise have to pack it up and take it home. The "fixed" vendors are not so keen on bargaining, they apparently make their living this way. But since you already have a "no", all you can do is ask for a price reduction and perhaps you will get a "yes". Don't bother coming during the week unless the weather is very good, otherwise there will be few vendors there and you will have walked through the whole market in less than ten minutes. Bring your own shopping bag, and watch out for pickpockets.

Avoid this If you can, the stalls had a pile of clothes on tables which you were supposed to look through but the overall impression was that nobody cared and everything was dirty. We were really disappointed after reading some great reviews.

I'd say about 50% of the stalls have actual flea market goods (genuine wooden clogs! Genuine antique ice skates! Old records! Old books (in Dutch of course)). The other 35% of the stalls have cheap tourist crap you can get anywhere in Amsterdam, and the other 15% of the stalls have marijuana-themed products you can get in the red light district. It's not very large, fewer than 100 stalls altogether. The stallholders were very friendly and not pushy, which was nice.

hi, could anyone tell me if i can get a cab from p&o's cruise ship terminal to Waterlooplein market and if so could you tell me what i might expect to pay please? I assume they would take a small wheelchair. thanks. Ann

hi, can anyone tell me how much a cab from the cruise terminal ( we are going on P & O's ventura this may 2015 ) to Waterlooplein market in Amsterdam is please? and does it drop you right by the market as we have limited mobilty and will just manange to get around the market! thanks, ann

trams are well set up for anyone with mobility issues.Not used the cruise terminal, but there is a tram stop by the market, and trams take you to many locations in central Amsterdam.
