Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Lovely for walking

The Jordaan is exactly what you imagine Amsterdam to be like - loads of things to look at while strollig around the beautiful streets and over the canals. You could spend hours just wandering around.

An urban walker's dream

The Jordaan is chock full of history and architecture with surprises around every corner. Allow time to just wander and duck into unique shops and experience legendary Dutch charm. We found ourselves going back over the course of our week in AMS to wander these streets. And don't forget to look up - there is so much to see.

now that's Dutch

It's what everyone imagines when they think of Holland and Amsterdam. Canals, tall thin houses several stories tall looking like gingerbread houses. Tons of bicycles on the street, at the bottom of the canals and everywhere else. It's magical in its own way and must see when visiting the city for the first time.

Safe neighbourhood
Dec 2019
Follow Rozengrct, and you are rewarded with a chilled-out neighbourhood with cheap gym facilities, ex-pat craft shops and nice sidewalk canals, with lots of young friendly people.

On the negative side the hotels are overpriced, as most in the center - so stay more towards vondell park. At least this area is safe from muggers.

Such a lovely part of Amsterdam
Aug 2020
I love walking through Jordaan - plenty of cute bars, restaurants and the canals (very picturesque). All within walking distance to/from central Amsterdam, so very easy to walk to major landmarks. Definitely worth walking through here if you're nearby. It also has Anne Frank's house and a few other places worth seeing.
Can't miss it!
