This is a pretty little neighborhood of nine short streets located near the Jordaan district and the Anne Frank House. It is easy to walk in thirty minutes or less. Allow more time it you want to visit the shops or one of the many cafes.
Nice canal views from some of the bridges.

This area comprises nine small streets with various shops selling clothing, food, art, and more. Some expensive shopping but also some at the other end of the scale. Probably best for window shopping.
Lots of tourists.

One of the neat areas of Central Amsterdam to spend time is Negen Straatjes (Nine Streets) situated between Raadhuisstraat (north) and Leidsegracht (south).
Here you find 9 quaint streets stretching the width of the Canal Ring, providing a nice browsing, shopping an dining area within the city.
The various streets are lined with boutique shops, small cafes, coffee shops and speciality shops. It is a charming scene and location to enjoy downtime in Amsterdam.

I love the 9 little streets. It is my favourite area in Amsterdam. There are cafés hand in hand with small speciality shops. Take your time in this area and enjoy the atmosphere. For a an excellent apple tart try Café Nielsen (Berenstraat 19) or for homemade chocolate heaven try Chocolaterie Pompadour (Huidenstraat 12). And if you enjoy this area, write a review so we can get this area higher up on the TA ranking list.

I love this bit of Amsterdam. It feels like an "old city center" in many other places would feel. The buildings aren't as wide apart and old and new seem to blend quite well.
The only thing I didn't like so much is that, compared to a visit several years ago, I felt like there were more brand-name shops and less small independents.

Great shopping area with a mix of local stores and global brands. Great place to wonder, grab a snack, and shop. Something for everyone!

We love to walk here every time we are in Amsterdam. It's a trendy, but touristic shopping area like most of old Amsterdam, and located close to another interesting neighborhood, the Jordaan, as well as the Westerkerk (where Rembrandt is buried) and Anne Frank House.
The "9 Straatjes" (9 narrow little streets) is littered with little boutiques, gift and art stores, restaurants and cafes. There's no defined border between neighborhoods and one easily wanders from one into the other, all equally picturesque with beautiful facades and canal views, especially on a sunny day. It's like walking through living history.
The neighborhood lies between 2 canals (Single and Prinsengracht) and is bisected by 2 others (Keizersgracht and Herengracht) and is easily walkable from the Dam Square.
Watch out for bicyclists many go very fast even with occupied child seats attached to the handle bars.

9 little streets winding around the canals full of small, unique and individual shops and cafes. Much better to shop here then anywhere else I went in Amsterdam. This is not touristy, it is an authentic and wonderful shopping experience. no tack to be found, and prices range from £ to ££££ so there's plenty for everyone. Also contains THE best little chocolate shop, and if I could remember its name, I would review that too with 5 stars! Definitely worth a morning stroll and a stop for lunch.
