Nice to be out of the city
Jul 2020
This park is between Amsterdam and the Airport. It is nice to cycle or walk around, but if you really like nature, it is beter to go to the dunes along the coast or the Veluwe.

To my full surprise, I biked into this forest right outside Amsterdam. Amazing how close to urban Amsterdam I dropped into this forest. Fairly large surface, constructed about a century ago with inspiration from Versailles, Schönbrun and other famous places in Europe.

Amazing

I took some truffles and wandered around this place at night. Really trippy place! I remember there being sand, then a lake, then woodchip under my feet. It is an artificial forest so its beautiful but designed.

A great place for a walk or a jog
Jan 2020
This is on the outskirts of Amsterdam. There is a large "de Poel" in the centre of it. There are walking and jogging tracks around the pool of water. The massive size of the pool is fascinating. The sight of the church at the corner of the pool makes for a great landscape.

The Best Place to Bicycle In (ok, near) Amsterdam
Aug 2019
If the idea of cycling in Amsterdam terrifies you (and it probably should), come here. We had a lovely breakfast in the park and rented bikes for two adults five children with ease. From there we rode to a pool for wading, a lake for canoeing, a herd of highland cattle for viewing (at a safe distance) and a wonderful pancake house for -- what else? pancakes :-). On an extended visit to Amsterdam, it was a wonderful escape from the city for a day.

Hairy cows!!
Dec 2019 • Couples
We stayed at the Renaissance Marriott by the airport for our last day and the park is right next door. It is beautiful. Horse trails, walking trails and nice benches. There is a part in the South west that has a group of the hairy cows (Scottish?) that roam and came right up to us! We loved this park, it was a nice wind down before we left to go home.

Nature in the city
Oct 2019
This is a great place for a run. Our hotel was only about 1.5 miles from the park. The forest has both paved and unpaved trails. There are many water features. The park is large enough that you feel as if you have left the city.

Offers a nice escape from the busyness
May 2019
The Amsterdam Forest offers a nice escape from the busyness of the city. There are a lot of things to see and do here. My favorite thing to do is rent a canoe and visit the goat farm. It's easiest if you come here by bike. If you are visiting short-term, I would recommend the Vondelpark over this one, though.

Huge park - rent a canoe
Sep 2019 • Friends
Forest near Amsterdam which is accessible via public transportation. Perfect for a nice walk. Renting a canoe makes the trip to the park even better.

hello! Is it cold here in November? Would it still be greenery in November? I am coming November 20th and am wondering if this will be worth while

Hi E.J.,
Great that you're visiting us in November! The Amsterdamse Bos is pretty all year round. Right now we are at the change of the season, some leafs on the trees are starting to change colour.
We have a great variety of trees in the Amsterdamse Bos. In November a lot of trees have already dropped their leafs, creating a beautiful tapestry of colours on the forest ground. But there are also a lot of trees that don't shed their leafs all year round. So there's enough to see and enjoy ;).
Check out the weather reports for the current predictions. We are situated only a bit more to the south, than Denmark.
Hope you have a nice time!
With kind regards,
The Organisation of the Amsterdamse Bos

Hello FionaL... When does the cherry trees start to blossom in April? do you know? because I'm planning to visit Amsterdam on 1st April 2018. Thank you.

Hi Fiantika,
The blossom period of the cherry blossom trees in our ‘Bloesempark’ usually starts in March or April and lasts about 10-14 days, depending on the weather and blossom.
When the blossom starts to take off we inform our visitors through our website: amsterdamsebos.nl.
NB We recommend visitors to come on weekdays and by foot, bike, or public transport, to avoid parking trouble and to avoid the park getting too crowded.
With kind regards,
The Organisation of the Amsterdamse Bos

We are visiting Netherlands next week
Is it close by to pass by it and spend couple of hours for family horse riding with kids?
Is these trees will be white as in the picture and we can see it?

Dear Enas A.,
The Amsterdamse Bos is situated in the south of Amsterdam. From the city centre it’s about a 20 minutes bike ride. For more information, check out our website: amsterdamsebos.nl/english.
The cherry blossom trees (in the ‘Bloesempark’) are’n blossoming yet, but they almost are. We expect they will start to blossom within the next couple of days/week. It’s always hard to predict the moment of blossomming, mostly because of the weather. The blossom period lasts about 10-14 days, depending on the weather and blossom.
Have a nice stay!
With kind regards,
The Organisation of the Amsterdamse Bos

Hallo.
dürfen uns unsere Hunde dort hin begleiten?
Amsterdamse Bos
Amsterdam, The Netherlands0 contributions
Hello Balucky,
Thanks for your message.
Yes, in most areas of the Amsterdamse Bos, dogs are allowed. In some areas they have to be on a leash, in other areas they can run free.
However, there are also areas where dogs are not allowed to enter, because of the vulnerability of the environment or (in summer season) on crowded recreational meadows. More information (and PDF of map): amsterdamsebos.nl/huisregels (in Dutch, but you can translate is, for instance with Google translate).
We hope you have a nice time in the Amsterdamse Bos!
With kind regards,

Look the connections up on three w's 9292 DOT nl/en# It's not allowed to write website names here, so just put the dots in.
You fill in the address you are travelling from, the destination, plus the time of arrival or departure.
Their timing can be a little tight, make sure to arrive a few minutes earlier at the stop.
Good luck!

Hi, we will be in Amsterdamse Bos for a concert in August. What would be the easiest way to get back to the city centre by public transport? It'll be a late night (~11pm) on a Sunday. Also, are there any paths through the Bos with street lighting? Is it safe at all to walk through the Bos at nighttime?

Hi amurleopard42,
Sorry for our late response, we've had some trouble loggin in to this account. Hopefully you've managed to find the Amsterdamse Bos and enjoyed your stay and the concert ;)!
Indeed, like peterko62 says, a bike is the easiest means of transport to reach the Amsterdamse Bos. But you can also take the bus, or come by car. Visit our English website: amsterdamsebos.nl/english/directions-routes.
Some routes through the forest are lit, albeit slightly.
With kind regards,

Dear Naama,
Great to hear you’re planning to visit the Amsterdamse Bos!
The Amsterdamse Bos is beautiful at this time of year and lovely to explore by bike. It’s quite large: the Amsterdamse Bos is three times the size of New York’s Central Park. But with a few hours by bike you can get a good impression. At the main entrance of the Amsterdamse Bos, you can find the bicycle rental: amsterdamsebosfietsverhuur.nl/deboshalte.
For information about how to travel to and from Schiphol Airport, we’d like to refer you to their international website: schiphol.nl/index_en.html. You can also visit the public transport information page: 9292.nl/en. On that website you can plan your public transport from and to Schiphol Airport and to the Amsterdamse Bos.
The Amsterdamse Bos is opened all year round, 24/7. September 19th is a Saturday, most attractions in the forest will be open then (the Goat farm, canoe rental, pancake farm and more). Check our English website for more information about the attractions, or about where you can eat: amsterdamsebos.nl/english.
We are curious, what brings you to the Amsterdamse Bos? If you like, we might be able to plan a short tour through the ‘Bos’ with one of our rangers.
We hope to see you soon and that you'll enjoy your stay!
Kind regards,
The Organisation of the Amsterdamse Bos
