Carre World Circus

Amazing show! Fantastic vantage point of view. Show only plays limited time every year but is a must to go see and experience.

As far as theatres go, this isnt THAT impressive. But it is a historical cool building on the water - so it has that going for it. But still, I want that impressed. I came and saw the circus here - was kind of crammed intoa seat and ropes were going everywhere.

Given its purpose in life...seating people for concerts, plays etc.....you'd think the seats would be pleasant. Oh how wrong you are. The leg room is for a 4 year old and vertigo sufferers avoid the upstairs areas. Like many things in an over crowded country - space is premium. And this place suffers badly from a lack of it.

A beautiful old building. The architecture is very nice. There are good views on all sides especially from the river.

This former circus theater is the best place to visit a play or musical in Amsterdam. If you get a chance and visit something you can understand, go here. The building is magnificent.

Myself and my husband visited this theatre to see the Hans Klok Illusion and magic show. Theatre was pretty straight forward to find. Beautiful décor inside!! We sat in Loge 2 which is a box in the centre. Row 1, seats 1 & 2. View was brilliant couldn't of asked for a better view. Drinks, sweets, popcorn available to buy... More

Went there to see and listen to GUUS, for a second time. good show (says more about the artists than the location...) But okay, Carre is a great place, old grandeur totally refurbished, easy to access and comfortable. If they still offer the tours, you should book and see how everything works on the other side of the curtain.

Booked a dinner at the carre cafe. Good food just before the show starts. It cart is small but enough choice. Staff is kind and polite. Great suggestion before a show.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
