I cannot recommend this highly enough. Both of these museums are well worth time time. Pieter was an absolute superstar of a guide and helped us get the most from both. For Rijksmuseum, he explained the nuances and key features of the Dutch masters (which certainly we would not have picked up on our own). And for Van Gough, he... More

About our tour to Italy “Italian Wonders” September 4th – September 14th, 2016. Unfortunately, not everything was perfect on our trip. First, what is with the constant changing of hotels? When it was mentioned on our documents that a change is possible, we understood that hotels will be equal with a level and proximity to areas with restaurants, attractions, etc.!... More

Cecelia was our multi-lingual and knowledgeable guide with cheerful Bert driving on this Charm of Holland tour which lasted for nearly 8 hours. The trip covered many aspects of Nederland's past with visits to places covering cheese making, clog making, waffle baking, wind mills (the original purpose as well as various other uses) and how the land was drained and... We took 2 tours through Viator and both were with Keytours. The 1st one was Charm of Holland Tour which about 8 hours all in all. It included: visiting as the 1st stop the Zaans Schans (we got to visit a wood cutting wind mill - it was very interesting and informative). Then we had a Walking tour in Volendam... More

Great tour for 1 whole day. We purchased tickets at the Tour & Tickets, Damrak 26. Get the "Countryside & Windmills" for 5.5 hours. Starts around 8am where we board the bus at central station. The stops were: Zaanse Schans, Volendam, eat by the seaside, lots of restaurants to choose from. Then board for a short sail on the Marken... More

My family had a wonderful time with the Small Group Volendam and Zaanse tour with Pieter. Pieter was an awesome guide and even entertained my eleven year old son and twenty year old niece. The scenery was amazing and beautiful. It was also great to see a part of the the Netherlands outside of Amsterdam. The bus was also very... More

We booked a Keystone Tour on line through Viator, a few days later, the night before the all day Dutch Windmills and Countryside tour, Viator said Keystone cancelled the tour. We went to where the tour was to start the next morning at the Tours and Tickets office and they said the tour was not cancelled and so we booked... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
