In Cape Town we have a street and area name Herengracht, it reminded me of the Dutch influence in The Cape since 1652. Buildings similar to that of the Cape.

Not my favourite of the big 3 but still a very nice canal. Take a boat trip to experience them all and then choose your own favourite.

Fine selection of seventeenth century canal houses adorn this canal and it is so lovely to watch the boats and the twinkling wavelets as you wander around.

If you like messing about in boats, or watching other people mess about in boats, then fine, otherwise, the Herengracht is a canal - like many other canals in Amsterdam.

Somewhat more quiet in some parts than other canals. I enjoy stopping and taking in the scenery, the wacky houses, bridges and people in general. The Canal Museum also lies along the Herengracht and is also worth a visit!
