Discover Amsterdam by water in a canal cruise run by one of the most renowned shipping companies available. We will take you across the beautiful canals of Amsterdam, to show you the beautiful attractions of our historic city. The Original Canal Cruise lasts one hour. Boats depart every 30 minutes: on the hour and on the half hour. During the tour, explanations can be provided in 10 different languages. Candlelight Cruise Amsterdam: At 20:00hrs our Candlelight cruise departs. During the Candlelight cruise an abundance of wines, sodas, typical Dutch snacks will be served. A multilingual guide will tell you about the various attractions.

Once we found seats with headphone jacks that worked, it was an interesting tour of the canals. The recorded information was quite thorough and the trip took us through a number of different areas of the city. We started our trip by the main train station. It was a dreary day with rain on and off, but the large windows on the boat offered good viewing, as well as protection from the elements. We had minimal contact with staff - just buying tickets and getting on and off the boat. The price was reasonable for the experience.

Nice trip, best value on the canals. Killed an hour in the rain and got to see the city by boat. Also cheapest beer in the city (still not cheap but hey, Amsterdam prices) We were the only English on the boat and got a bit of a ribbing because we didn't speak German or dutch so the guide had to do 2 languages, and the whole boat were informed he'd never met an English "man" that did. The English never mind a ribbing and we apologised good naturedly to the boat of Germans and we all had a good laugh, I mean I speak French and Spanish and can get by in Italian which I thought was quite a good effort for an English Woman ;)

I was very surprised to see good reviews for this tour, perhaps we were not lucky with the tour guide/ boat captain.
He really turned out day upside down and left us shocked and upset. He was verbally abusive, rude and unprofessional. I am not sure how could someone like him take this position. It looks like that he never heard or is aware of what a customer care is. Without any reason or provocation, he used unspeakable words while talking to me, telling me that I am ugly. His rude behaviour started since we boarded the boat when we told him that one of our friends in the same group had a birthday. We were expecting at least a smile and a simple Happy Birthday, instead he told us to shut up and he clearly said that he doesn't care.
In summary, this was the worst city boat tour ever and I would never recommend it or use this company again.
The problem may lay in just one member of staff, but why would you take the chance and risk and ruin your break?!
There are lots of companies out there, simply use another one!

Patrick, our tour boat captain, conducted a humorous and informative tour of the canals of Amsterdam and the harbor. The tour was more comfortable and interesting than I expected. I recommend Rederij Kooij to any first time visitors to Amsterdam.

On Friday 11th August, 2023, we visited Amsterdam at the end of a Shearings Rhine Cruise. We decided to venture on a one hour Canal Tour (The Original Amsterdam Canal Tour) was the Company name. The Canal Cruise was 13 euros per person and was one hour in duration. The boat had a prerecorded audio in different languages and was very informative. We covered quite some distance along the Canals of Amsterdam. The boat was clean and comfortable and we could easily take photos and videos. This was our first visit to Amsterdam and we enjoyed the Canal Cruise. Amsterdam is a very busy City.

My family and I, as tourists visiting Amsterdam for the first time, decided to take a canal cruise with Rederij P. Kooij Canal Boat Tours, paying 13 euros each. Unfortunately, our experience took an unpleasant turn. Shortly after the tour began, a family member started feeling seasick and had to rush to the boat's bathroom. However, to our disappointment, there were no tissues available inside.
We approached the boat captain politely to ask for some tissues. Regrettably, the captain responded rudely, stating that he did not have any on hand. As we disembarked at the end, to our surprise, the boat captain followed us and began yelling at my family member, blaming them for falling sick and not cleaning up their slight mess. Despite them being in a vulnerable state, the captain refused to show any understanding or compassion. He offered a bucket of dirty water and two wet rags, expecting them to clean it up despite their evident illness and inability to walk properly.
Disturbed by the captain's aggressive behaviour, I intervened, asking for tissues, but this only fueled his anger as we were not touching the unsanitary bucket he gave us. He directed his yelling towards me, even appearing physically threatening. Fearing for my safety, I tried to create some distance, but he persisted in screaming and intimidating me. Ultimately, he gave my family a small piece of tissue and instructed us to clean the floor.
Despite our family member's visibly weakening condition, the captain continued to berate them throughout this ordeal. It was evident that his behaviour and attitude were unacceptable and warranted immediate action. Consequently, we have filed a police report regarding the incident involving this boat captain and the company.
I must caution others about this boat captain's behaviour and attitude. This distressing encounter marred our first impression of Amsterdam, and we hope that no other tourists have to endure such treatment during what should have been a pleasant canal cruise experience.

During our visit to Amsterdam, my husband & I embarked on the hour-long canal tour – and we truly enjoyed it! The views from the boat were spectacular! The tour guide provided interesting facts. And the Captain was amazing at navigating his way through some tight spots and narrow passages!

We have not been back to Amsterdam for 20 years so decided to take a canal tour on day one to get an overview of the city. The staff here was very welcoming and personable! Our Captain was fantastic because he supplemented the recorded information with his own wonderful commentary. He did it with humor and enthusiasm and really made what probably would have been a routine trip into a highly entertaining and informative trip. Great value too!

The boat ride was fine although the captain was very disinterested overall (I get it, doing the same thing over and over is tiresome). hopefully those boat will drive themselves in the future, so they can do something they like better.
The crew on the dock however where very nice and friendly, so I left a tip on the boat anyways.

Went on the candlelit cruise.
Absolutely fantastic!
3 bottles of wine per couple. Red and white were very drinkable (I presume the rose was ok too, but we don't drink that) the tour was 2 hours. Beautiful views of the various canals. Extremely relaxed. The guide was not talking the whole time, but enough to impart some facts and figures. The particular cruise we were on was not busy, but we ended up chatting with the guide. She was very knowledgeable..
Overall absllute highlight of our trip- definitely recommend!

Hi John Sorry I can't give you the information you want as we only did the daytime cruise. However when you visit Amsterdam just walk down to the quay as you'll find a representative for every cruise there. Enjoy Amsterdam

I like to buy online tickets for the 1-hour canal boat tour by Rederij Kooij. But somehow the website is not accessible. Then, I read a reviewer saying tickets are available at the Centraal Station in Amsterdam. Does that means this tour company has a booth in the Centraal Station? Thanks. Ken H

They for sure have a booth at the place where you board the boat. Boats leave frequently so unless you would be very tight on timing or a big group, getting a ticket should not be too difficult.

We have indeed translation in Russian during the tour. But before you buy the ticket ask our steward on the jetty if the Russian language is possible on the next departing boat.

During our regular tour it's always possible to sit face forward. Most of our boats have seats facing forward and backwards.
The commentary during our reguar cruise is recorded. Our Candlelight cruise has a English (and German and French) speaking guide who will answer your questions.

We have a maximum of 4 languages per tour. Most of the time we provide Dutch, English and German. If the 4th language is for instance French we don't provide Italian.
Before you get on the boat ask the Captain if the Italian explanation is on.
We depart every 30 minutes from 10AM till 10PM.
