Bike hire was OK, service not so good

My son and I were looking for bikes for half a day cycling around Amsterdam and the first shop we came across was King Bikes on Spuistraat. The price was OK and the bikes looked... read more

We rented 7 bikes with King Bikes Amsterdam. They have nice city bikes with handbrakes and gears. The service is amazing. They give all the information you need, free map and a phone holder to navigate. The bikes are in good condition. we paied 10 euros for 1 day. The price is including insurance and 2 locks each bike. If... More

My son and I were looking for bikes for half a day cycling around Amsterdam and the first shop we came across was King Bikes on Spuistraat. The price was OK and the bikes looked OK too, if a little rattly. But the team member manning the shop was particularly surly and uncommunicative (although clearly he spoke perfect English). And... We rented a couple bikes on July 14. After riding for an hour or so my left pedal fell off. I do not have bike tools with me on vacation so couldn't re-attach. Walked for 1.5 hours back to King Bikes arriving about 15 minutes before close. The employee said he could give me a bike for the last 15... More

If you're a pretty confident person then by all means take advantage of these cheap prices, just remembering to check that everything is in working order before you leave the shop. Unfortunately for us our keys got stuck in these old rust buckets and we couldn't get the chains locked, so one of us had to stand guard the whole... More

1/ Poor customer service Worst customer service ever experienced: Bike chain broke within first minutes of rental. Unwilling to deliver a new bike, or to find another solution. So we walked 30min back to the shop, only to be greeted by the manager saying that we were "lucky" that we didnt have to pay penalty. On request, price reduction refused,... More

We had a day trip to Amsterdam using the p&o mini cruise. Our friend recommended that the way to travel was by bike. He was definitely right. Bikes rule the roads and paths. Its actually madness with how busy it gets and how many people are crossing bike paths and roads in all different directions. If you walking, you had... More

Amsterdam is the biking capital of the world- therefore you must go on a bike tour! It's a great way to see the city and really feel a part of it. Our guide took us in a very small group and led us to all the main attractions of the city. It was very personalized and he offered to take... More

We rented bikes here. We tried them before we depart and there was some mechanical problems so the guy exchanged to working ones quickly. The price was good. They offer good free map. The guy who was manning the shop was helpful. When we return next day, anothe fellow was manning the store who didn't speak much.
