Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cosy theater with a tradition of conferences. I saw Tim Fransen who’s a relatively young talent with degrees in philosophy and psychology. He talks about Napoleon, Kant and Beethoven with a lot of humour. You have to be fluent in Dutch to understand everything but the intellectual level is extremely high.

A charming old venue with good acoustics, & comfortable seating, but no lift. You'll climb several steps up for orchestra seating. The lobby gets crowded, & they are strict about opening the doors. (We saw Ocobar (American-style rock n roll performers), & wished they'd done less talking & more singing, since we do not speak Dutch.)

Good seats, good atmosphere, good program. Staff is very helpful although the routing of the bar, the entrance and the cloakroom is not very suitable for large amounts of people.

The name says it all: Small
Small bar downstairs, no room to have a drink beforehand (or during the break), small chairs (where do I put my legs?), everything crammed in so it is very hot, you experience everything from the people around you.
Small, hot, never reached the bar, nowhere to rest... glad when I was outside again.
This is really no longer possible these days. Small events, big DRAMA

What a pleasant surprise our visit to De Kleine Komedie turned out to be. It's a beautiful old-styled theatre... and was smaller than I'd imagined. I'd seen a plan of it in advance (needed to do so to book good seats) and it looked bigger on paper. I think it seats around 500 people, which makes it quite intimate.

Like I said, it's old style - the main floor area plus two rows of balconies above. The ground floor area has a row of pillars along each side. The stage is a decent size and the sound was spot on.

It's located on the Amstel... a beautiful area of canals and bridges.

Their programme is mostly Dutch. The show we attended was about music, so no problems there. Most enjoyable evening.

Have been going here for comedy shows, theatre and music for years and years now. I love the atmosphere and the 'feel' of the room. They always have the best dutch comedians performing here.
