I was only there for a short time, but the small village is quaint and beautiful! Walk around and soak in the gorgeous gardens of the villagers and don't miss The Clog Experience. I wish I had more time to spend exploring!

Very touristy, but typical for the "old" Holland. Very charming wooden houses, nice place to walk around in. Be prepared to pay for everything you want to do: park, go to the restroom etc. People aren't very friendly on a busy day. I had mixen feelings about this place. As a native in the Netherlands I've always wanted to visit... More

What a beautiful, tranquil place this is. Wonderful to wander along the quayside and through the village. It was pleasant to get away from the hustle and bustle if Amsterdam and see the real Netherlands. Can highly recommend a visit to this lovely town.

In Marken, you get to see how they make the wooden shoes that are so closely associated with Holland. It's a charming, beautiful little town that is worth a visit.

A fine and charming old village along the lake. Famous for a ferry connection to Volendam, another old Dutch village. Love the serene and antique ambiance especially the old Dutch houses. The old-fishing village exudes tranquility of the past. One can walk along the lake's dunes relaxingly especially on a fine, sunny day as today. Quaint restaurants abound the haven... More

This was part of a full day visit to Marken, Volendam and windmills. The town is lovely, little houses, very quiet and peaceful, some waterfront souvenir shops, really beautiful.
