Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My 2nd great grand parents were married in this church. Antony and Gerrridiena Vurrggink were married here in the mid 1850s. After meeting missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints they converted their religion and emigrated to Weber County, Utah, USA in 1869. After relocating they changed their sir-name to "Fronk" to to simplify the pronunciation and spelling. Today there are hundreds of individuals with the "Fronk" sir-name living in the Northern Utah, USA area as a result of this couple. Its amazing what "little" things taking place in this church has become "big" things spread through out the world. (A care-taker in the church still had a record of their membership in this church)

A large building with comfortable seating and modern tables and chairs set up for coffee and possibly snacks if you came earlier in the day. We popped in for a quick coffee near to 5 pm and I think they were setting up chairs for another event in the main part of the building. It is an old church I think, which now seems to be a multi purpose space but I’m not too sure as there didn’t seem to be any signage in English explaining unless we missed it. Worth a look in though as it’s free entry.

The church is huge at the inside. Beautiful room at the end with gold plating and a lot of daylight. A very large wooden preachef stand with beautiful carvings.

A temporary fund raising 2nd hand book selling. Well organised.

I am particularly drawn to all old churches and I loved this one. I also had opportunity to see the inside as it was open. I very much appreciated to pulpit that looked to be hand carved wood.

I f you are in the area, be sure to take a look and if possible go on a Friday as there is a fantastic market from 8:00 to 1:00. After the market stay and enjoy a beer at one of the many cafe's

Lovely church in the centre of town. It is huge and most internal space is used for exhibitions. Dont forget to look for the glass St Michael outside in the square and a stone one way up above the doorway and look up, at the ceilings

The Grote Kerk is lovely from the outside and unfortunately that is all we were able to enjoy as it was closed for construction. It was a shame so it will be on our list if we were to visit Zwolle again

This impressive church building was constructed during the 14th and 15th century. The tower collapsed in the 17th century. Proof of the historic past of this church can be found in the pulpit and the organ and also in small things as a historic sign board and the dial of a small clock. (See pictures). Initially the church was of course a Catholic church, but was taken over by the Protestants during the reformation. Another, more recent change is the use of the church building not only for religious matter, but also for more worldly pursuits. I noticed during my visit a large second hand book market and an art exhibition inside the church. So there is more to a visit to the "Grote Kerk" in Zwolle than just admiring the historic religious stuff; you can also score a second hand book or admire some modern art objects. (Both pursuits not for free). However, a visit is recommended.
