Beautiful Iconic piece of architectural history

Worth a visit to Utrecht (also a great underrated destination) for this house alone. A must see for any architecture lover.

Extremely interesting architecture and decoration, quite innovative for the time. Still very interesting & attractive after a long while. No need to reserve, busy in weekends.

A visit of the Schröder house is possible with reservation. First a video is shown about the concept of the house, told by the owner, Truus Schröder. Then the tour starts. Everyone gets an audioguide in the language of choise. Extra questions can be asked to the guide. By showing all the rolling, turning,...pieces of the interior the guide shows... More

This House is fantastic: it has been there for about a Century now and it looks very modern. A great project from Rietveld! Nice style... so different from the other buildings nearby.

This important monument built according to De Stijl principles is one of Holland's World Heritage Sites. Close by, there are more Rietveld buildings (the ticket office is one of them), but the Schröder Schrader House is really what you nee to see. The surrounding quarter is typical as well, if you make it to the Wilhelminapark (1 km) you realise... More

The house is absolutely fascinating and definitely recommend it! I was, however, not impressed with the staff to put it mildly. You are given an audio tour at the beginning but a guide goes with you in the house and, as she said, you are allowed to ask questions. I tried to ask a question twice, but her answer was... More

This is an amazing house. Despite being built in 1924 and being almost 100 years old, it looks exceedingly modern and the lines are beautiful. It is well worth a walk thru the city to take a look, and with some planning, get tickets to tour. And it looks just like a 3D Piet Mondrian painting. An easy and pleasant... More

Rietveld Schröderhuis is an icon of 1920s modernist architecture, very innovative for its time and well worth a visit. It's often sold out so be sure to book ahead. The fee includes admission to the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, and the best idea is to go there first; with your ID and your ticket to Schröderhuis, the museum will give... More

Plan to take a bus or taxi to this fascinating little house designed by Gerrit Rietveld for Maria Schroeder and her kids in 1924. The highly functional home built as a cube with fascinating features that makes you wonder why it's not in your own home. Sliding walls transform a single room into 2 bedrooms, bath and kitchen. Be sure... More

I've been to the Rietveld-Schröder house ages ago, as part of my studies (building engineering). The house is full of clever solutions to make optimal use of the space. The architect was also a master of relative sizes. Everything is in proportion. The famous chair is there to see as well. As others have said, the house is quite small.... More
