Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was such an amazing experience! The tour was interactive, fun and educational. We spend almost 2 hours there. The staff is super friendly and helpful and you can buy delicious cheese and Souvenirs in the shop for a really good price.

The G.C.E. was a neat stop in a daytrip we took from Rotterdam. The GCE offers a great way to learn about the cheesemaking process with many visuals and hands-on that makes a visit worthwhile and interesting for both adults and kids. Kids will enjoy it and become certified cheese experts at the end. For the adults, the cheese tasting at the end is pretty cool too. The staff is super friendly. I think the layout of the exhibits and how you are moved through is very well thought out. Best exhibit: the milking of the cow!

It’s always daunting bringing hyper 4 & 6 year old boys to a museum but I’m so glad we did! This is so well organised and interactive; we all had a fantastic time! The staff were all so helpful and friendly. The museum is beautifully designed and the whole thing is so enjoyable. Lots of hilarious & cheesy photo opportunities! There is a lovely little cafe with duplo for the kids to play. The cheese tasting at the end is a real treat! The kids loved getting their badge and certificate at the end to become cheese masters (even though we’d totally failed the quiz 🤣). Well worth the money!

This is an entirely impersonal tour conducted through exhibitions and audio handsets, which is overpriced for what it offers. Whilst the content is generally informative and interesting, there is no cheese actually being made to see the process first hand. There are no staff visible during the tour to answer questions, even during the cheese tasting (I still don't know what one of the flavours was I ate). However the deciding factor in this review was that the doors are locked at the end to regulate flow through to the tasting room. If you don't want to wait, or if you need to leave for some reason, there is no way to get out until the door is opened from behind, and it felt like quite a long wait. It might have been possible to go back to the start, but that door was locked too to regulate entry to the video, so we didn't try it. There are only a few seats in this last room so most people had to stand around waiting. Anyone with any level of claustrophobia would struggle here I think.

Very kid oriented, not really for adults. You’re forced to wait for the doors to open before you can progress to the next room at two separate points which makes you feel penned in and doesn’t help if you have limited time. No cheese is actually made there, it’s all plastic models. The entrance felt really chaotic with no clear signage to the museum part or prices so it wasn’t obvious where to go. The tasting at the end was ok. Staff were a bit abrupt too. The cheese museum in the town square looked much better.

We visited Gouda Cheese Experience with 2 kids in August 2023 on our way from Belgium to Amsterdam.
It was a fun for the whole family! Very educational, hands-on, and memorable experience! Kids loved it and stayed engaged to complete clue-finding challenge sheets.

We highly recommend Gouda Cheese Experience if you are in the area and looking to spend a good time with children!

It was very well organized tour, and we got our certificate as a Cheese Master. Good museum showing the very beginnings of cheese, starting with the cow, various cheeses and maturing rates. Nice that there were Interactive for those that like it (kids probably do much more than adults).
All in all, well worth the experience. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and it was fun also

After waiting over a year to be able to take my family to the cheese experience we where not disappointed. We where welcomed by the lovely hosts. Make sure to pay attention to all the snippets of information around you. Even before entering the room for the introduction video there is a wall full of historical information about Gouda and it's cheese history. It's really a mix of history about Gouda and it's cheese and an explanation of the full process of how cheese is made from the cheese to the plate. It's really interactive and the information sticks. Weeks later we handed one of our friends here in Brazil a piece of authentic Gouda cheese and our kids explained the whole process to them including how long his specific cheese had cured for.

In short it was really informative and fun with great service by kind and attentive host.

This experience is v much geared towards children. Thankfully the day we visited we seemed to be the only people there. I can imagine the chaos with kids there. The chap who met us in the shop was very friendly and chatty. 16€ for an adult is far too expensive for a self guided tour. At the end was a cheese tasting which consisted of five tiny pieces of Gouda, a tiny cracker, a spoonful of chutney and a glass of tap water. The girl who showed us into the tasting room looked totally fed up, a complete contrast to the cheery guy in the shop. Don’t waste your money going here, visit the shop and if the guy we chatted to is there, you’ll get enough info from him without paying 16€.

Some of the displays did not work.
We were herded at the beginning into a room with a short video introduction
Truly aimed at young people, mostly reading and listening-to recordings with some pictures and display items.
Expensive for the lack of interaction.
At the end there was the classic dress up for photograph which, we found disturbs no caution whatsoever about cleanliness or Covid.
The tastings at the end we avoided because we were going to being herded into a room with a dozen or more people, we questioned about our worries about potential Covid and we’re quickly dismissed with a “It’s over now”
We spoke with the manager who also dismissed us
