We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this fascinating two room museum next to the Hooglandse church in Leiden. The museum was known to be a home for Roman Catholic priests at the Hooglandse Church, before the Reformation, when the two rooms were connected as a...More

We were doing a research project on the Pilgrims and on learning that they went to Leiden, I did some looking around online. I found this museum's website and we went. The docent and director were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in giving us information...More

This was a highlight of our visit to Leiden! Not a typical museum with tags on everything but much more interactive. Along with the group of people who were there when we arrived, we spent about an hour and a half exploring this two room...More

I believe we were told this is the oldest house in Leiden and it is run by a man who is very knowledgeable about the Pilgrims who fled England in view of their religious beliefs, arrived in Amsterdam and then moved to Leiden. Years later...More

A small museum of two rooms may sound on paper to not amount to much, but talking with the curator is like having your own private tour guide. There is a collection of furniture, pottery, household items, maps and books dating from the 1200's to...More

We're glad you enjoyed your visit. It isn't necessary to wait for a prior tour to be finished, because there isn't a set story we tell. You can join at any time and ask questions and what we talk about will turn to your topics...More

This museum is small and hospitable. I arrived on a Thursday about mid afternoon. There are two sides. A 17th c house and a 14th C house. Both different with so much to see. I think it is up to you to make the museum....More

As other reviewers have noted, this is not a museum in the traditional sense. In my view, it is much better: it was like stepping into a painting by one of the Dutch Old Masters. The 14th century house is steeped in history. The museum's...More

The museum was officially closed but through a mutual acquaintance, Tessa (the owner) opened the museum to us and gave us a private tour. Wonderful collection of artifacts and anecdotes about the Pilgrims who came here before going to America. Highly recommended, especially for Americans...More

My guide was wonderful and allowed me as much time as I wanted to view the home, the many historic items and to take pictures. As a direct descendant of one of the Mayflower Pilgrims, I was delighted!
