The Saturday market in Leiden is very scenic being alongside the canals. It is also very practical with lots of great produce being offered. Not a tourist market only or not even primarily. I loved a plate of samplers offered by a delicatessen stall (see pictures).

Fresh produce, fish, meats and big wheels of the most delicious cheeses to sample. Here you will also find textiles, buttons and braid, scarves, clothing, hats and so much more. Freshly cut spring flowers, blooming bulbs, and branches of curly willow, and magnolia are yours to buy too. A favourite with our teenage daughter was the 20 cm warm stroopwafel... More

nice town near amsterdam! beautiful and peaceful place, just ten minutes from the central station. there are a lot of restaurants and cafes and also can get some sourvairs there.

This is a fantastic market for choice, variety and atmosphere. All stall holders are so friendly and offer cheese, chocolate and bread for sampling. All produce appeared to be very fresh and although extremely busy, this added to the atmosphere.

Amazing colours and displays of fresh products in this beautiful open market. A must if you're visiting this wonderful city in Holland.

Nice little market that lines the canal and a cross road. Lots of cheese and olive stalls who allow sampling before purchase. Good walks around the surrounding areas, mostly closed off to cars but do watch out for bikes and motorbikes zipping past. Lots of eating options as well.

There are so many stalls with so many items! Cheese, fish, flowers, fruits, vegetables, sausages, sweets, nuts, dried fruits...so much selection. And clothes! Boho clothes, cheap clothes, fabrics, pillows, handbags, luggage, and so much more. We also listened to a calliope and some street musicians...fantastic experience.

Love this weekly market, I used to come here when I used to live in Belgium, now even on vacation. You can find a bit of everything, from clothes to food, from accessories to any item you may need. Try herrings, something typical. But more important, enjoy the market as you really can feel and smell its nature.

This is the Genuine Locals market and a feast for the eyes. There are Fish, Cheese, and Flower stands .Everything you could possibly want. All this is set the amongst the most beautiful Canal setting with restaurants and coffee shops. Forget Amsterdam and go straight to Leiden

We went to see the market, the map here is wrong, but we asked and got to the right place. Prices are good but the colors and the verity is amazing!! A most visit if you are in the area on Saturday or Wednesday.
