Great facility but tough to find your way around

I understand that De Doelen was originally several venues that were joined together. As a result, it can be a challenge to find your way. But, the concert hall has great... read more

A repeat visit to listen to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra this time with Schubert's symphone no4 and after the intermission, Mozart's "Requiem". Orchestra, conductor Cristian Macelaru, the solists Lauren Snouffer soprano, Barbare Kozelj alt, Christian Elsner tenor, Geert Smits bas and the Laurens Collegium choir, brought a spectecular performance before a mouse-quiet audience. Apart from the music is this theater... More

A visit to De Doelen is never disappointing. It is a great concert hall, presenting great pieces - oriental and modern as well as the old classics. That is one of the amazing things of De Doelen - its variety. It hosts many different groups of musicians and orchestras from all over the globe, with each having a distinct sound... More

I understand that De Doelen was originally several venues that were joined together. As a result, it can be a challenge to find your way. But, the concert hall has great acoustics and is comfortable, there is an endless supply of alternate spaces and once you figure out the elevators and escalators, you are home free!

Next to the ' regular' classics and jazz music program for adults, De Doelen has also a kids friendly schedule. On a regular basis, concerts are organized for kids between 4 and 12 years old.

De Doelen is a beautiful concerthall in the center of Rotterdam. It's easy accessible especially with public transport. The sound in the hall is very good everywhere and you can always see the stage. We went to Christmas Together by René Shuman & Angel-Eye and it was wonderful! The whole concert but also the Hall, the audience and ofcourse the... More

Visited with friend the international film festival of Rotterdam. Had a few sponsored drinks after a very lousy diner in the cafe. Everything was cold, served by junior temp people without proper qualifications and the taste was even worse. The Doelen / IFFR should consider to hire a pro catering to get more quality and an entertaining experience.

Although I was born and raised in Rotterdam, I had strangely enough never sern De Doelen on the inside. This first time's occasion was The Matrix Live. As I enjoy SF movies as well as musical performances, this was a great concept to me. As I was somewhat late booking, we didn't have the best seats (lateral but overseeing the... More

Check the online agenda when in Rotterdam, you might get surprised by a world-class performance. De Doelen is a home to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, which are often on tour. The artists selection is very good, young rising soloists is their specialty. The acoustics is very good throughout the concert hall, although you will see less when in the back.... More

I was pleased with the venue. The technology (including wifi) was top notch as it relates to the presentations. Due to the agenda being long, I was happy to discover clean restrooms.

Rotterdam, completely flattened by German bombs during the Second World War Blitz, has risen from its ashes handsomely, stronger and more vibrant than ever. It is a young city with cutting edge architecture, lively cultural life, its universities, Erasmus University among them. The international vibes of it being one of the largest ports in the world and the gateway to... More
