Intimate and interesting

This is a lovely little museum - I actually prefer it to the big one in Leiden. Nice to pop into for a quick visit.

Find out your cat eats about 34 small birds and just as many mice a year. See skeletons, greedy fish and more in this nicely tuned modern look at what used to be absolutely boring is actually is not: life around the city. Good for about an hour.

As for me, I didn't like the museum. It has everything and nothing. Sometimes it seems like people brought their old things from home which they don't use anymore. Waste of time and money. If you need to kill some time, it is an option.

This is an excellent way to use an hour or so if you're in rotterdam. Although small it is interesting and entertaining. The albatross photo exhibition that was there when I visited had some very funny photos and I do like what the taxidermists did with some animals that were donated to the museum 'without all the parts'. It is... More

In case you can't find it, this is the building with the giant metal rabbits out on the front laws in Museumpark. It's not a huge exhibition, which is actually quite nice because then you don't get bored trudging through endless rooms of stuffed songbirds or mounted beetles. In the room with the most specimens, nothing's labeled, so pick up... More

We enjoyed our visit to the Natural History Museum in Rotterdam. It is quite small, but it is ideally located in the museum park so you can easily add another museum to your days adventures! The sperm wall skeleton suspended in the front atrium makes a great photo spot! We liked all the standard taxidermy animals, geologic rocks and shells,... More

Really the worst museum I have been to in a long time. A dusty old place that I thought no longer existed. All info was only in Dutch, great for all the non-Dutch speaking tourists. The collections of stuffed animals left me feeling sad and bored at the same time. The solution for this place is to sell off the... More

We didn't get there during opening hours but admired the whale in the window and an assortment of shells and animal skeletons visible at the entrance. It is surrounded by sculptures and nestled in a great park. Worth visiting even if its not open!
