Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I were on a Viking River Cruise this past April. We left Amsterdam in the evening. The next morning we woke up in Rotterdam. I looked out the window of our cabin and saw the Red Bridge. That view of the Red Bridge is seared in my memory of Rotterdam.

The Willemsbrug is one of the 4 bridges that crosses the Nieuwe Maas River in Rotterdam. Completed in 1981 and named after King Willem III, this cable-stayed bridge spanning 318 metres replaced an outdated bridge from the 19th century. Though its red-painted frame stands out more strikingly, it has always played second fiddle to its more popular and illustrious light-blue cousin, the Erasmusbrug. A quirky feature of the bridge is the dramatic 90 degrees turn that drivers have to negotiate as they come on and off the bridge, a design that was incorporated into the bridge in order to prevent traffic problems around the historic Oude Haven. Regardless, it’ll still be one of the timeless icon of the city for many years to come.

The second bridge next to Erasmus being a showcase of Rotterdam, maybe not so great but a well lit night also makes an impression.

Rotterdam is the home of four major bridges some of which were rebuilt like this one named after Dutch King Willem III , known also as Willem of Orange. Thus the question which Always arises in my mind when i see this , painted in red color, bridge: “ why Willemsbridge is red and not orange?!”

Willemsbrug is another bridge. It's not as famous as the Big Brother (or is it Big Sister?) Erasmus bridge, but it is equally beautiful as well as useful. It is used by cars and pedestrians and it spans the river offering panoramic views as far as one can see. It is terrific! Ant the red colour is quite striking.

I did a lot of walking around which Rotterdam is excellent for. This bridge is a must see. I had my camera with me so took loads of pictures, still getting used to it so I am yet to upload pictures. There's a wonderful ŕiver under the bridge and a very nice path where you could sit or walk taking in the beauty of he area and calmness. This I did on my first walk. On Sunday after breakfast I thought this is the best time to tackle the bridge which wasn't disappointing in the slightest. This is an architectural work of beauty which like most things in Rotterdam is well thought out. I took my time walking and gazing as this gives a lot of photo opportunities. I stumbled on an excellent band in a square outside a supermarket which was a breathe of fresh air as they were great entertainers and you'll notice I enjoy the outdoors and good music. This was a jazz band. On my walk back I saw another bridge ĺift which was super cool. The view from the other side of the bridge as I walked back was well worth it. I would recommend this.

The Red Bridge was constructed in 1981 to replace the old one across the Meuse to link up with Fejenoord district. It was used by pedestrians and vehicles and thus it offered good opportunities for visitors to take good photos while walking on this bridge.

An iconic bridge on the Rotterdam skyline since the early 80's. Bridge lovers simply must cross it either in a vehicle or preferably on foot so you can get some great photos of the city view.

This 1981 red bridge replaced an old 1878 bridge closer to the center (together with the old railway bridge dismantled in the early 1980s). The old bridge was level and thus more convenient to use by cyclists and pedestrians. The new bridge was and is basically meant for cars. In the vision of the urban planners at the time, the city center should first and foremost be accessible by private car. At the time already a contested opinion.
The new bridge has the same name as the old one 'Willemsbrug' Willem being the name of king Willem III formally the Dutch head of state at the time of the first construction. After dark beautifully illuminated.
