Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely leisurely walk from our hotel to the City Hall. The architecture is impressive, interiors as well. But what we loved was the courtyard/garden inside where we stayed for awhile while our kid played. It's a beautiful place to be in.

Worthwhile a visit. Build between 1914 and 1920. This building has survived the bombings in WWII.
And a picture perfect place. Bring your foto/video camera with you.

Rotterdam's City Hall is one of the few lucky survivors of the destruction that befell on the city during the Second World War. It was built in the early part of the 1900s and it is a beautiful building indeed. Sculptures have been used around the building to express the history of Rotterdam. Right at the entrance of the building are sculptures of the ‘Portier’ (doorman) and the ‘Fiscus’ (tax collector). Other sculptures express a range of values and virtues, such as ‘stedenmaagd’ (urban virgin), over the main entrance, with the gilded bronze statue ‘Genius met fakkel’ (spirit with torch). The gilded statue ‘Vredesengel’ (angel of peace) is at the top of the highest tower. Bear in mind that visits to the City Hall are only through guided tours which you can book through the tourist office, which is not too far away. This is definitely worth a visit.

The facade of the building was so beautiful, and the materials really fitted nicely in with the rest of the city. It made me feel at ease

The most impressive thing about this building was the bullets on the walls!! When we we're on tour bus they said " please pay attention to bullets on the walls of the building. It is a reminder that the liberty doesn't come cheap!! "

Due to the results of WW2, this is one of the few remaining, old buildings in Rotterdam's city center. The bullet holes which can be found outside are silent witnesses of this era. The entrance hall is also quite impressive. This building probably wouldn't stand out in a city center with lots of historical buildings, but here it does, and stands out.

One of the few old buildings left in the city from before the war. Beautifull restored. Must go there to see it when you visit this city.

You may not miss this building when you are in town. The outside is beautiful. You can just walk in, the entrance is free. Inside you find a garden.

We went to the Rotterdam city hall during a one day trip to the city. It looked beautiful from the outside and we were looking forward to exploring the inside which we unfortunately weren't allowed by some very insistent guards. They basically told us to stay in the reception area or visit the garden and not go to the side rooms or on the other floors. Although the inside was very disappointing, the garden turned out to be the most beautiful thing we saw during our entire stay in Rotterdam. The entry is free and you can enter from the city hall or from the street.
