The Louwman Museum is home to the world's oldest private collection of motor cars, compiled by two generations of the Louwman family. The museum dates back to 1934 and now comprises over two hundred and fifty antique and classic motor cars. Experts regard the collection as one of the most beautiful in the World. The museum exudes passion. Each car has its own story to tell, its own contribution to history. The motor car is a mirror of culture.

The collection is housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the city where P.W. Louwman established his Dodge and Chrysler import company. The building, designed by American architect Michael Graves, blends in sympathetically with its historic surroundings. The landscape gardens, designed by Lodewijk Baljon, complement the architecture of the building.

Party and Museum visit

Nice museum with beautiful old and antique cars, even my favourite car: Citroen DS. Personel very friendly and accurate, bringing drinks and snacks in a nice tempo.

All auto museums have different expertise. I've been to more than a dozen or so around the world. For the true automobile fan deep down, this is the best museum to see the development of an icon. It was first class and completely captivating. 2 1/4 hours was only enough for 1/2 the museum...at my pace. The art museum I... More

Worth a day trip. One of the most beautiful car museums I've seen in my life. Since Evert Louwman moved the museum from Raamsdonkveer to The Hague it's been on my shortlist. I've worked in the museum in Raamsdonkveer in the nineties for a year and at that time he already had a remarkable collection, which he managed to enrich... More

But seriously, this is such an underrated gem in The Hague (already notorious for being a boring capital), no one seems to know about it (even locals), it's not on TV, the news, there are no events, posters...NADA. But it should go down in history as one of the best museums ever made--and I'm not even a car enthusiast. Granted,... More

Not terribly well served by public transport from The Hague at the weekends with only one bus per hour but well worth the effort. An international display, rather than a local motor museum, it has to be one of the most beautifully set out motor museums I have been to. Allow a good 2.5 to 3 hours; more if you... More

This is a very nice car museum. A huge collection, very well kept and curated. Some pretty unique cars too. They often have special exhibitions ongoing as well. Nice well stocked museum shop and good cafe.

Loving care for cars and car history radiate from every spot in this museum. It is in my opinion the best car museum in the world. Of course I haven't visited all car museums in the world, only some of them, but I can't imagine the possibility to best the Louwman Museum. Let's summarize the different aspects of the Louwman... You really don't need to be a petrol-head to love this place, a wonderful collection of cars from the beginning of the car age. They don't really engage particularly with modern classics, but this is a really wonderful collection. Highly recommended.

Well worth a visit. Pristine building and the most incredible collection of vehicles through the ages. Good cafe/restaurant with waiter service. Staff helpful and keen to share information.
