Without having planned it, we found ourselves in Antwerp for the afternoon, and they had a special opening of the Town Hall. It is an absolutely gorgeous building with a great history, and the exhibit gave us a great sense of that as well as the history of the city of Antwerp. definitely recommended!

The truth is that Town Hall in the UNESCO list not alone but in company with the 55 bell towers and other historic buildings of Belgium and France, which a normal tourist will not travel in a lifetime. Antwerp Town Hall settled in the list deserved. The city Council of a wealthy Antwerp wanted to impress his contemporaries with luxury... More

Exhibition created for the 450th anniversary in 2015. Interesting exhibition about the history of the building which is mostly in Flemish but the leaflet you get on entry tells you about everything in English. There are also videos with English subtitles. Free entry and well worth it

A beautiful old building. Usually you can enter the hallway for free, so you can get an impression of the stunning inside. Do not miss this!

The architecture is a masterpiece of Flemish Renaissance. It's a feast to the eye when the city hall is decorated with the many flags of the world. A visit inside will be difficult for the coming months due to restoration.

It is a beautiful building if watched from the outside. It is actually possible to enter the building and visit it but there is something you must plan.

We went in Feb 2016, it was not at all crowded. There were some police keeping watch over the building. Antwerp city gets its name from the statue of Silvius Brabo (a Roman soldier) throwing hand (hand werpen = hand throwing) in Flemish.

Even you can get inside only after veding, if you get the possibility to go there, do it. It is unforgetable experience even for people who doesnt like history.

This town hall was constructed after the big fire that ruined the earlier town hall at the same spot. The building has experienced happy and sad times, but is still the focal point of the locals for everything that has to be decided about "their city".
