The statue of Peter Paul Rubens is located in the Groenplaats square in Antwerp. He was a famous artist from Antwerp. If you want a picture of the statue you better take one before all the teens start congregating around it.

This statue was placed here in 1843, aldough the plate says 1840. That was the original intention, but a lot went wrong in it's production and financing. Moreover, the population couldn't get an agreement where to place him. But it's still the first non-religious statue...More

Besides being the center of attention at the heart of the medieval city, the great Flemish artist's head is a popular rest stop for Antwerp's pigeons.

If any citizen of Antwerp deserves a statue it must be the brillant painter Rubens (1577-1640). Even if you are not interested in Rubens, a photo of his statue can be recommended - because of the beautiful church in the background.
