This museum is situated in the former stagecoach station where the Duke of Wellington stayed on the nights of 17 and 18 June 1815. You can still visit the Duke's bedroom, the office where he wrote his victory report, and his aide-de-camp's bedroom. Various other rooms have been dedicated, each to an army, including authentic documents, etchings, weapons and souvenirs of the various nations that took part in the combat. There is also an impressive collection of rare weapons, such as "la Suffisante", a cannon manufactured in Douai, France in 1813 and abandoned on the battlefield. Each round weight 6 lbs. Your individual ticket for entry into the museum entitles you to an audio guide available in various languages. Duration of the visit: 50 minutes.

Interesting little museum

If you like history (I do) then this is an interesting look at the British side of the Battle of Waterloo. If you like antique guns and weaponry, this is definitely a must see. If... read more

This little museum does a great job of recounting the very narrow period in which the battle took place, and the buildup in the few days immediately preceding it. With a range of interesting and impressive exhibits - armour, uniforms, weapons, letters, diaries, and so on - you're led through the events as they unfolded, essentially hour by hour. The... More

Museum is slightly boring, but serves as a good introduction when you go to see the battlefield of Waterloo.

Visited the Wellington Museum earlier today, great value for money (€5:50 - Adults / €4:50 concessions). The exhibits are complimented by a very detailed audio headset which is included in the price and is available in several languages. Genuine period articles, weaponry, clothing (Many owned by Wellington himself) are located over 3 floors. Due to this layout and the age... More

If you like history (I do) then this is an interesting look at the British side of the Battle of Waterloo. If you like antique guns and weaponry, this is definitely a must see. If you're really not into either, there's not going to be much for you here. It is a small museum that delivers what it promises--a collection... More

I was disappointed because I forgot to take my camera. This is Wellingtons Headquarters. It lloks really good from the outside and I really enjoyed the exhibits inside. Well worth it. I was with Leger Holidays and had a ticket which gave entry to us all and don't know how much it would be normally. There are some good books... More

A lovely little museum but with some very nice exhibits. Took about an hour to go around. The audio tour was okay although the last part did not reflect some recent moves of the exhibits, but this did not distract from the visit. Well worth a visit. It is in the centre of the small town of Waterloo with plenty... More

The woman who greeted us at the museum was friendly, polite and informative. She gave us audio guides and explained the layout of the building. Usually audio guides bore me to tears but i was engaged and fascinated by this one as the the information and subject matter was was so interesting. The building itself is small but the tour... Tour of this museum was included in our Trafalgar tour, but not the new one out the back! It only took 20 minutes to view - apparently it will be renovated! Steep steps and small rooms!
